Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing alerts in a mobile device, and more particularly a method for providing a shortcut for displaying and hiding alerts by providing an event list that is shown automatically or accessible by a shortcut button. The invention also relates to a corresponding mobile device. Thus, the invention provides a method for providing alerts in a mobile device having a display and a keypad. The method comprises the steps of: detecting an event; adding an event presentation (5) associated with the event on an event list (4); and showing the event list or a symbol (8) on the display. The event list is shown automatically for critical alerts and is accessible with one key stroke for less critical alerts. The user can choose to hide the list, also with a single key stroke, or act on an event.

Abstract: A wireless device (e.g., a mobile telephone) and method of paring wireless devices by positioning a first wireless device within an operable distance from a second wireless device facing each other for a predetermined time period. The wireless devices have detectors and electromagnetic sources. Electromagnetic radiation in a predefined pattern is detected the detector of the first wireless device, wherein the electromagnetic radiation was transmitted from the second electromagnetic radiation source. The detected is processed to establish a wireless communication link (e.g., GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, MBMS, WiFi, WiMax, DVB-H, ISDB-T, Bluetooth, infrared, etc.) between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. Upon establishing the communication link information (e.g., files, multimedia, images, etc.) rendered on one device may be transferred through the communication to the other device.

Abstract: In one general aspect, the application discloses a data visualization method that includes accessing data tables and receiving an axis binding definition for a particular visualization that relates values in a first of the tables to sets of fields in a second of the tables. A marking indication can then be received that selects one of the values in the first of the tables, and a set of fields in the second table is accessed based on the marking indication and the axis binding definition. This accessed set of fields is presented in the particular visualization for which the axis binding definition was received.

Abstract: In one general aspect, the application discloses a data visualization method in which at least two retrieved data tables are associated based on a selection of at least one common field. A visualization is displayed for data from a first of the tables and input for query devices is received to filter data for a second of the tables. The displayed visualization for the first table can then be updated in response to the received query device input for the second table based on the created association.

Abstract: A method for generating a graphical user interface (GUI) on a display of an electronic device such as a mobile phone, includes the steps of analyzing a bitmap, comprising a layout of fields of different colors, to determine the color and location of the fields. Each field represents the intended presence of a GUI object, such as an icon or a text field. The type of GUI object intended is determined in an interpretation file, which links color to GUI object type. The actual content to present in the field of a determined type, is then determined by accessing a table linking content description to field location, and the determined content is subsequently presented at the determined location on the display.

Abstract: Wireless communication terminals include a memory, a wireless communication module configured to communicate with other communication terminals over a wireless interface, and a controller that is configured to store a digital information signal in the memory and to receive a distribution command from a user of the wireless communication terminal. The controller is further configured, responsive to receiving the distribution command, to send a share notification signal through the wireless communication module to a remotely located other communication terminal, and, responsive to receiving an access request from the other communication terminal, to send the digital information signal to the other communication terminal. Abstract: A mobile electronic device may include a video display, a user interface, a wireless transmitter, and a controller. The video display may be configured to provide video information to a user of the mobile electronic device, the user interface may be configured to accept user input at the mobile electronic device, and the controller may be coupled to the video display, to the user interface, and to the wireless transmitter. The controller may be configured to run a video game responsive to user input accepted at the user interface, to generate personal gaming video information for the video game for display on the video display of the mobile gaming device, and to generate public gaming video information for the video game for transmission from the wireless transmitter and display on a public display. Moreover, the personal gaming video information and the public gaming video information may be different. Related gaming devices and methods are also discussed.
