  • Patent number: 6564073
Abstract: A portable communication device (1) has a plurality of electronic circuits (212, 214, 216), a battery (270) for supplying power to the circuits, a controller (240) and a memory (244, 310). The controller controls the operation of at least some of the circuits by providing control signals (TX str, RX str, Synth str), for which the circuits are responsive. The memory (310) is provided with a set of predetermined consumption figures (TxCurrent, RxCurrent, SynthCurrent) related to a respective amount of electric energy consumed by the circuits (212, 214, 216) in response to a respective control signal. The device also comprises means (247, 300) for counting the control signals (TX str, RX str, Synth str) and for determining, by using the set of predetermined consumption figures, a value (Total_Current) representing the consumption of electric energy from the battery (270).

  • Patent number: 6198405
Abstract: A driver circuit 1000 for driving functional devices, such as an LED 1020-1023, a buzzer 1060, a voltage converter or an EL-lamp, and a method of operating the driver circuit are provided. The circuit includes an inductor 1030, first and second connection points for connection of a voltage source 1050, switching means 1040 which when in a first state allows an electrical current to flow from the first connection point and through the inductor to thereby charge the inductor with energy and when in a second state substantially prevents an electrical current from flowing from the first connection point to the inductor and at least two functional devices, the function of which are activated when energy is discharged from the inductor to the at least two functional devices.

  • Patent number: 6084759
Abstract: For protection against electrostatic discharge in electronic apparatuses, a circuit or a component having a connected signal conductor and a discharge conductor connected thereto, is provided with a pointed free end facing and spaced from a pointed free end of a feed conductor together forming a spark gap between the discharge conductor and the feed conductor. Each of the feed conductor and the discharge conductor is arranged with several points forming multiple spark gaps between them.

  • Patent number: 6038153
Abstract: An inverter circuit (10) for driving an electroluminescent lamp (14) reduces humming noise by discharging the electroluminescent lamp (14) through a resistor circuit (32). A charging circuit (36 or 38) charges the electroluminescent lamp (14) to a first voltage level during a charge cycle. The electroluminescent lamp (14) is subsequently discharged to a second voltage level through the resistor circuit (32), which prolongs the transition from the first voltage level to the second voltage level, thereby reducing the humming noise components of the inverter circuit (10).

  • Patent number: 5927997
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for connecting two electrical circuits (2,17;15,16) by a connection which permits that the two circuits easily can be separated and reunited again at the same time as interference and scratching noise in the connection mechanism are avoided. A first carrier (14, 28) is movable around a shaft (1), which is fastened onto a second carrier (7, 29). The first carrier (14, 28) can easily be removed from the shaft (1) and refitted again. The first carrier (14, 28) has a projecting part (8, 23, 30), which presses against an electrically conducting elastomer (4,18a-l, 21, 33) localized on the second carrier (7, 29). On the projecting part (8, 23, 30) there is an electrically conducting part (9, 20a-l, 24a-h), which is connected to a first electrical circuit (2,17) localized on the first carrier (14, 28). The electrically conducting elastomer (4,18a-l, 21, 33) is connected to a second electrical circuit (15,16) localized on the second carrier (7, 29).
