  • Patent number: 7517499
Abstract: A flow chamber (1) made of plastics as an object carrier for light-microscopic examinations comprised at least one channel (4) in a base plate (2), said channel having a width of 0.01 to 20 mm and a height of 0.01 to 5 mm. One liquid reservoir (3, 3?) each is connected to the inlet and outlet opening (6, 6?) of the channel, whereby a communicating system is generated. The bottom and/or the cover of this chamber is made of a high-class plastic material and may be functionalized. The inlet and outlet portions of the channel may be formed by a rounding (7) of the channel edges or by a surface treatment in a manner that drop formation is prevented and the flow is therefore not obstructed.

  • Patent number: 7204922
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the electrophoretic separation of particles, especially of macromolecules, comprising the steps of applying the particles to be separated on a substrate supported membrane, such that the particles are mobile across the surface of the substrate supported membrane; providing an electrical field such that electrical fields are formed along the surface across which the particles are mobile; and temporarily modifying the electrical field and/or adding a substrate supported membrane having a structured surface, wherein the direction and/or the strength of the electrical field are temporarily modified and/or wherein the substrate supported membrane is structured so that a force is acting on the particles that leads to a movement depending on the length of the particles. Moreover, a substrate is provided, in particular, for supporting a membrane during the performing of the inventive methods, that comprises an optically transparent material.

  • Publication number: 20030175413
Abstract: The invention relates to a surface coating oh an interface between a liquid and a solid, which allows the neutralization of charged surfaces in an aqueous solution or the generation of exactly defined surface charges. For this purpose the surface is coated with neutral and/or charged macromolecules, amphiphilic molecules or polymers being suited, individually or combined, to adjust a predetermined surface charge on the interface or to neutralize a given surface charge. If the coating contains neutral macromolecules, undesired effects caused by the electric osmosis are prevented. If the macromolecules are charged, an exactly defined surface charge can be adjusted.
