  • Patent number: 5232141
Abstract: A suction roller arrangement for transporting web-form material consisting of a roller body in the form of a hollow cylinder of porous sintered metal, the inner space beneath the looping angle of the web being under reduced pressure. The problem of converting the torque required to transport the web with minimal reduced pressure while, at the same time, protecting the surface of the web is solved by making the pore diameter in the middle cylindrical zone of the roller larger than in the two peripheral zones and by giving the outer cylinder surface of the roller a smooth surface finish by lathe-turning, grinding and polishing. The stator in the inner space of the rotatable roller is polygonal in shape in the region of the looping angle and has different distances from the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5176305
Abstract: A device for controlling webs of material, for example photographic films of webs of paper or magnetic tapes, in a so-called twin roller hollow suction means is described, wherein a pressure difference exists between the upper and lower side of the web in the region of the pair of rollers and wherein a respective sealing wedge is arranged according to the invention in the free interior (10) between the rollers (2, 3) on either side outwardly from the outer roller edges such that it passes beneath the edges (17) of the suspended web portion (5), the cross-sectional shape of the rollers is imitated and is at a small distance from the bearing faces of the rollers. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the sealing wedge is hollowed in the shape of a tank and extends transversely to the direction of travel falling away in the direction of the web center (FIG. 3).

  • Patent number: 5040481
Abstract: An apparatus by which layer thickenings formed transversely to the direction of movement of a coated web are removed after the continuously moving web has been coated with liquids or dispersions, for example a web of photographic film or paper or magnetic recording carrier, are described. A deflecting roller (4) over which the web travels with its coated side facing the roller is situated downstream of the coating and drying devices. When a layer thickening approaches, a cleaning roller (2) covered with a fleece is swung into contact with the web, whereupon the web travels only over the cleaning roller.

  • Patent number: 5017287
Abstract: Filtering element for corrosive liquids to be filtered under pressure, which displays only minimal filtrate loss when the filter is changed, consisting of a pressure-resistant, cup-shaped outer supporting body (2) and a coaxial, also cup-shaped, pressure-resistant inner supporting body (3) having bottom surfaces (4, 5), wherein a filter cartridge (6) is disposed in the annular gap open towards the top between the supporting bodies (2, 3), said filter cartridge (6) consisting of an annular base portion (17) and cover portion (18) having inlet and outlet holes (9, 10) and, if desired, rigid or flexible wall portions (11, 12) between the base and cover portions and filtering material (15) between the wall portions, through which the liquid to be filtered is pressed radially from one hollow space to the other (FIG. 3).

  • Patent number: 4900063
Abstract: A clamping connection unit for joining two hollow cylindrical pipes together is described. The unit consists of two abutting identically constructed coupling halves (1,2), an elastic O-ring (16) placed between them and a clamping connection (15) pressing the two coupling halves together. The clamping connection is in the form of a pipe clamp and is chamfered off on the internal surfaces of the clamping jaws to form V-shaped surfaces which slide down on similarly chamfered surfaces of annular ridges at the pipe ends to connect the two coupling halves together without leaving a gap.

  • Patent number: 4010514
Abstract: The arrangement is used for continuously cleaning surface-sensitive paper or film in web form. The arrangement may be installed at any point along the path of web travel. The cleaning effect is provided by a ribbon of fibrous nonwoven material which is guided over a suction roller together with the web to be cleaned. The ribbon of fibrous nonwoven material moves in the opposite direction to the web. A highly satisfactory cleaning effect is obtained by the high relative speed between the surface to be cleaned and the web of nonwoven material. The particles of dust and dirt removed from the web are drawn into the suction roller under the effect of the vacuum.
