  • Patent number: 8963812
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying a reflective image in response to light emitted from an emissive display is disclosed. An apparatus includes an emissive display, a processor in communication with the emissive display, and an electronic cover proximate to the emissive display. The electronic cover includes a passive display layer having a plurality of passive display elements and a photosensitive layer responsive to emitted light from the emissive display. A method includes forming an emitted light image on the emissive display and exposing the photoconductor layer of the electronic cover to an emitted light image, causing the plurality of passive display elements to form a reflective image on the passive display layer so that the reflective image corresponds to the displayed image.

  • Patent number: 8897675
Abstract: There is described an image forming apparatus including an imaging member having a charge retentive-surface for developing an electrostatic latent image thereon, a substrate and a photoconductive member disposed on the substrate. A bias charge roller for applying an electrostatic charge on the charge retentive surface to a predetermined electric potential is included in the image forming apparatus. The bias charge roller includes a first circumferential area in contact with the photoconductive member (CC[contact]), and a second circumferential area (CC[non-contact]) spaced a distance of from 1 ?m to 1 mm from the photoconductive member. The image forming apparatus includes a power supply for supplying an oscillating voltage signal to the bias charge roller wherein the oscillating voltage signal has a frequency Am[fAC] and an amplitude Am[VAC]. The following relationship is met: (CC[contact]/CC[non-contact])?(Am[fAC]/Am[VAC])?(CC[non-contact]/CC[contact]) by the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8850908
Abstract: A method and structure for a device including a non-contact gap control device for maintaining a distance between surfaces can include a pliable platform, a frame to which the pliable platform is secured, an aerodynamic floating (AF) head attached to the pliable platform and a probe for measuring, testing, and/or characterizing a substrate adjacent to the AF head. A pressurized gas source can be coupled to the AF head, such that a pressurized gas is ejected onto the substrate to maintain a distance between the substrate and the AF head during measurement. While the frame can be held immobile, the pliable platform can react in response to irregularities in the substrate to maintain a generally constant distance between the AF head and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8849160
Abstract: A bias charge roller includes an electrically conductive core. An outer layer is axially supported on the core. The outer layer is either conductive or semi-conductive. The bias charge roller further includes a continuous raised pattern on the outer surface of the outer layer. The continuous raised pattern is configured to contact a charge-retentive surface of an electrophotographic imaging member so as to charge the charge-retentive surface. The bias charge roller can be employed in an image forming apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20140064812
Abstract: A pair of opposing rollers comprises a first roller and a second roller contacting the first roller to form a nip between the rollers through which print media passes. Because of surface irregularities in the rollers, the nip can have one or more unintended gaps at locations where the surface of the first roller separates from the surface second roller. Further, a frame holds the first roller and the second roller. A manual or automatic axis adjuster is operatively connected to the controller and the first roller. The axis adjuster changes the angle of the axis (a first axis) of the first roller relative to the axis (a second axis) of the second roller based on the gap to position the first axis in a position other than parallel to the second axis. Changing the angle of the first axis relative to the second axis reduces or eliminates the gap.

  • Patent number: 7691551
Abstract: A layer on the reverse side of an imaging member provides excellent crack resistance to the imaging layer(s) on the front side. The crack-deterring backing layer can be a laminated self-adhesive, such as tape, or a coating. Because the crack-deterring backing layer is on the reverse side, it does not affect the electrical properties of the imaging member. Overcoat layers may be used whose function is limited to improved scratch resistance.
