Patent number: 10458344Abstract: A method of filtering a targeted frequency from a pedal input signal is provided. The method includes the steps of sampling the pedal input signal at a sampling frequency, calculating a moving average of the pedal input signal from samples of the pedal input signal, and outputting a filtered signal based on the moving average. A throttle filter system is also provided. The system includes a pedal configured to be actuated to set a desired acceleration of a vehicle, a position sensor configured to convert a position of the pedal into an electrical signal, a vehicle driveline configured to accelerate the vehicle, and a filtering module configured to accept the electrical signal from the position sensor and to filter the electrical signal to remove oscillations at a targeted frequency. In the system, the driveline accelerates the vehicle based on the filtered electrical signal.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2017Date of Patent: October 29, 2019Assignee: Spartan Motors, Inc.Inventors: Joshua J. Ryan, Patrick McGraw, Johann Eloff, Murali X. Balasundrum, Todd Chapman

Patent number: 9776482Abstract: An emergency exit door assembly for a vehicle. The door assembly comprises a main panel including an interior-facing surface and exterior-facing surface. The main panel is rotatably connected to the vehicle, such that the main panel is configured to selectively alternate between a closed position in which the interior-facing surface faces an interior of the vehicle and an open position in which the interior-facing surface faces an exterior of the vehicle. The door assembly additionally comprises one or more projection members extending from the interior-facing surface of the main panel. The projection members each include a first major surface configured to support articles within an interior of the vehicle while the main panel is in the closed position. The door assembly further comprises a support mechanism configured to support the main panel in the open position.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2015Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Assignee: Allied Recreation Group, Inc.Inventor: Johann Eloff

Patent number: 7717464Abstract: A vehicle chassis assembly includes a frame assembly having a plurality of frame members connected together, a drivetrain, a suspension system, and an exhaust system. The connection of the frame members provides a low-profile configuration for reduced step height and a kick-up portion to allow ascent of steeper inclines. The frame further includes an exhaust pipe supported within a frame member and two castings bolted to removable wheel arches. The exhaust pipe has a circular cross-section that changes to a rectangular cross-section near the back of the chassis assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2005Date of Patent: May 18, 2010Assignee: Workhorse Custom Chassis, LLCInventors: Dion van Leeve, Hennie van Niekerk, Wayne Seaman, Kelvin Milne, Johann Eloff, Anton Francois
