Patent number: 7523999Abstract: A brake cylinder for brakes of a motor vehicle, in particular for utility vehicles, comprising a spring loaded brake section and a service brake section is configurable in such a way that a total length is substantially shortened. In the inventive cylinder, the spring loaded brake section and the service brake section are constructed in such a way that they form a single unit. The brake cylinder comprises a pressurized piston for service braking and a spring-loaded piston for parking braking. The two pistons are connected to each other through a shift cylinder and are disconnected by the pressure relief in a second pressure chamber through the shift cylinder in such a way that the piston is displaceable by a spring-loaded spring. In order to release the brake, the piston for service braking is pressurized and reconnected to the piston. The unit is displaced to a release position by the action of a return spring through the pressure relief of the piston.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2007Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Knorr-Bremse Systems fuer Nutzfahrzeuge GmbHInventor: Johann Iraschko

Patent number: 7484602Abstract: An adjusting device for a disc brake, especially a pneumatically operated disc brake, is used for rotating and thus axially moving at least one rotary spindle that is provided with internal teeth composed of one or several axially extending grooves. The adjusting device includes an output bush that is provided with external teeth which engage into the internal teeth of the rotary spindle, as well as a monolithic or multipart release spindle. The release spindle axially penetrates the adjusting device and is used for manually releasing the same. The spindle is disposed and/or mounted in such a way that rotations of the spindle below a threshold torque, which are caused by vibrational stress during operation of the disc brake, are prevented. The adjusting device is characterized in that the spindle or a part that is connected to the spindle in a torsion-proof manner is also provided with external teeth which engage directly into the internal teeth of the rotary spindle as well.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2006Date of Patent: February 3, 2009Assignee: Knorr-Bremse Systeme fuer Nutzfahrzeuge GmbHInventors: Johann Iraschko, Manfred Schoenauer

Patent number: 6820727Abstract: The invention relates to a wear adjustment device for a brake, especially a motor vehicle brake. The device comprises an adjusting shaft, which is mounted in a housing and is accessible from the outside at a front end. Said adjusting shaft is equipped with a head part in the accessible area, this head part enabling the transmission of a torque. The head part is configured as a separate structural part and can be coupled to the adjusting shaft in such a way that it is resistant to torsion in the axial direction of the adjusting shaft and in relation to said adjusting shaft. The head part is also provided with a predetermined breaking point which enables separation to take place when a maximum permissible torque is exceeded. This constructionally simple configuration reliably prevents the adjusting shaft from being overburdened and therefore prevents any damage to the wear adjustment device or essential parts of the break that this could otherwise cause.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2002Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Knorr-Bremse Systeme fuer Nutzfahrzeuge GmbHInventors: Armin Theiss, Johann Iraschko, Hans Baumgartner
