  • Patent number: 6062490
Abstract: A sprinkling apparatus constructed as a square sprinkler has a nozzle arrangement with a straight row of nozzles, whereof each has a nozzle inlet connected by a nozzle duct to a nozzle outlet. At least in a portion between the nozzle inlet and nozzle outlet, the nozzles are constructed as rubber-like water guidance ducts, which are disconnectable by a force action transversely to the water flow direction. For the disconnection of individual nozzles clamping sliders are provided and are displaceable transversely to the water flow direction against the rubber-like nozzles and in the case of a displacement in each case disconnect or release again a nozzle. This permits a very variable adjustment of the sprinkling pattern.

  • Patent number: 5493851
Abstract: With a limited separating spacing immediately upstream of a mowing implement rotating in a horizontal plane, a lawnmower has an upward extraction implement rotating in the same direction as the advance direction about a horizontal transverse axis and which is located in a common casing, but in a separate casing chamber. The upward extraction implement is disengagingly driven by means of a gear by the drive motor of the mowing implement and is essentially located between the front wheels, which are vertically adjustable for the joint setting of the working height of the two implements. Thus, it is possible to in each case separately and also jointly and simultaneously work with the two implements, so that numerous use possibilities exist.

  • Patent number: 5224795
Abstract: A moisture sensing device (2) operating according to the tensiometer principle which in the case of complete drying out emits the same signal as on reaching the maximum moisture content, in the case of complete drying out emits a signal corresponding to that with the minimum, set moisture content. A drying out prevention means (40) provided for this operates with the same contactor (24) and is operated by the same control member (18) as the sensing device (2) in normal operation. The switching point for the drying out prevention means (40) can be adjusted by means of an adjusting device (48). However, the water supply is switched on by the signal emitted on drying out.

  • Patent number: 5208525
Abstract: An electric supply device for the cordless operation of electrical appliances has a holder fixed to the electrical appliance for detachably locking and substantially exposing a mounting support of a storage unit. For electrical contact connection, approximately in the plane of a countersunk bearing surface, the storage unit has flat, rigid contacting contacts, with which are associated corresponding countercontacting contacts in the vicinity of the associated counterbearing surface of the holder. The contacting contacts are proximate to a hinge axis formed by a projecting hinged cam and a cam pocket between the storage unit and the holder, so that a favorable leverage is obtained. For detachable locking, two separately, but simultaneously, operable locks are provided in the vicinity of the other end of the storage unit, in which the holder is substantially embedded.

  • Patent number: 5052622
Abstract: In a sprinkler (1), the water distributors (10) for supplying the spray nozzles (13, 14, 15) is formed by a separate main channel (15) inserted in a spray nozzle casing (2) and having relatively small flow cross-sections compared with the casing cross-sections, which is also constructed in one piece with the spray nozzles (13, 14, 15), so that the spray nozzle casing (2) does not have to be used for water distribution purposes and can instead merely serve as a support casing. Of the spray nozzles arranged in a row, those which are located at the end of the row can be individually manually disconnected with separate check valves (36), so that in simple manner it is possible to adjust the width of the exiting water curtain within certain limits.

  • Patent number: 5052621
Abstract: In a drive mechanism for a transportable sprinkler or the like, a hydraulic motor has a reduction gear, whose gear or gear wheels are outside the water distribution system in a separate gear chamber and are therefore dry. However, the gear chamber is so integrated into the casing of the hydraulic motor, that it is adjacent to a reversing chamber used for water distribution purposes and in which is located a reversing valve of a reversing device for the alternating reversing of the hydraulic motor in both rotation directions. The hydraulic motor is drive-connected by means of a driven pinion to a support and in the drive connection is arranged a self-engaging safety clutch. Between the reversing chamber and a rotor chamber connected axially thereto and to the gear chamber is provided a pressure-dependently operating bypass water distribution system with simple flap valves. Thus, high operational reliability with extremely compact construction of the hydraulic motor is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4639018
Abstract: A joint for a water-carrying pipe system, e.g. for a garden spray, has a joint shoulder with a disk-like part for each pipe end to be connected. The two disk parts are arranged on either side of the hose passed centrally through the joint. On either side of the joint, the hose is connected to the pipe ends in that it is passed through an opening, whose internal diameter is somewhat smaller than the external diameter of the hose. Thus, the hose engages flat on the openings of the pipe ends, so that this in itself leads to a liquid-tight seal.

  • Patent number: 4572235
Abstract: A device for adding a solid additive to a liquid has a liquid inlet, a liquid outlet and a receiving container for the solid additive in the form of a tablet or bar. The tablet or bar is hollow, being shaped like a cylindrical ring. The liquid is moved axially past the inner surface and outer surface of the cylindrical ring, and during wearing away of additive material, there is a reduction in the size of the outer surface and a corresponding increase in the size of the inner surface. Therefore, the overall surface area remains constant, which leads to constant admixing. Preferably, an inner tube spaced from the inner surfaces of the additive discharges liquid for flow across the inner and outer surfaces in the same direction.

  • Patent number: 4162132
Abstract: A set of garden or household implements comprises various different garden tool and/or household implement heads and at least one handle which can be selectively attached to any of the heads by means of a quick-connect coupling. The coupling comprises a coupling sleeve on the handle and a coupling pin on each head. The pin and the sleeve are so configured that the pin cannot turn or tilt in the sleeve. Abutments on the pin and the sleeve limit the extent to which the pin can be pushed in. Removal of the head from the handle is prevented by a releasable locking member, which is provided on the sleeve and co-operates with the pin. The locking member can comprise a transverse screw or a sneck which engages in a peripheral groove in the pin or a transverse latch which can engage in a transverse bore in the coupling pin.
