  • Publication number: 20100260445
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a slide bearing element (1) according to which a sliding layer (6) is produced on a support element (4) by vapour-phase deposition, if necessary after the insertion of at least one intermediate layer, wherein the sliding layer (6) comprises an aluminium matrix, which in addition to aluminium contains bismuth as a main component and possibly copper and also impurities of the elements arising during production. By means of the vapour-phase deposition of at least one element, the melting point of which is at least 950° C. higher than that of the bismuth and/or by applying a bias-voltage to the support element the bismuth-nuclear density is increased.

  • Publication number: 20060063019
Abstract: Slide layer for slide bearing, in particular for crankshafts, connecting-rod bearings or large end bearings, comprised of an alloy with several phases, which form a matrix and a dispersed phase, wherein the dispersed phase exhibits only a low solubility in the metal of the matrix, wherein the metal matrix is formed by a Al alloy and the dispersed phase by a Bi or a high melting Bi alloy, as well as slide bearings coated therewith and processes for producing a slide layer by sputter processes.

  • Patent number: 6902324
Abstract: A crankshaft bearing shell in an internal combustion engine of a vehicle is made from a steel/aluminum composite material and is composed of a steel supporting layer and an aluminum plated sliding layer containing parts of tin and copper in the aluminum sliding layer, optionally comprising an intermediate layer consisting of pure aluminum. The aluminum sliding layer comprises A1Sn (20-23) Cu(1.8-2.3) alloy, optionally containing additions of up to 0.1 wt % of Ni, 0.7 wt % of Si, 0.7 wt % Fe, 0.7 wt % Mn, 0.2 wt % Ti, wherein the sum of Si, Fe and Mn is less than 1 wt %; and impurities form a total amount of less than 0.5 wt.- % with the aluminum sliding layer having a Brinell hardness of at least 45 HB 1/5/30 after heat treatment.

  • Patent number: 6523343
Abstract: An air gap insulated exhaust manifold for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle that has a catalytic converter. The exhaust manifold includes an inner pipe and an outer pipe with a connecting flange on the cylinder head side of the outer pipe. The outer pipe encloses the inner pipe and is spaced therefrom at a distance. A pipe end of the inner pipe protrudes in a guided manner into the cylinder head and only the outer pipe is fastenable to the cylinder head by way of the connecting flange.

  • Patent number: 6375158
Abstract: A fastening device for connecting a valve spring retainer to a valve stem has a clamping sleeve, which acts radially on the valve stem and which blocks the valve spring retainer axially against the force of a valve spring on the valve stem, with the valve spring retainer being held displaceably on the valve stem. In order to provide a fastening device between a valve spring retainer and a valve stem of an internal combustion engine that is functionally dependable over a long operating period and is easy to assemble and disassemble, it is provided that the valve stem has, at least in the region of the clamping sleeve, a continuous cylindrical circumferential surface and that the clamping sleeve consists of a shape memory alloy.
