Johannes A. M. van Tetering has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 5570357
Abstract: A method and device for testing ATM connections, wherein the contents of the information part of test cells are repeated, including time indication, sequence number within a connection and connection number. The repetition of the contents occurs in octet pairs with the second octet in each pair being the inverse of the first octet in the pair.

  • Patent number: 5563877
Abstract: A telecommunication network node is proposed which provides a novel solution to the realignment of payload of an input datastream (IN) within an output datastream (OUT) after dismantling the former. The present network node thereto generates from the payload of the input datastream (IN) data units (MSCI) some of which include a time label (TL) indicative of the moment at which they are derived. These data units (MSCI) are stored in a buffer (BM) from which they are read at a varying rate determined to track the input data rate and constituting the output data rate. This tracking is achieved by using the time labels to calculate a node delay, i.e. the delay between the derivation and the reading of a data unit, and by changing the above rate as a function of this node delay in order to keep it within predetermined bounds.

  • Patent number: 5541913
Abstract: A policing device is proposed in which a plurality of parallel police processors (PP1, PP2) are included each of which implements a Modified Virtual Scheduling Algorithm and is so able to derive for a cell for which it is activated by an enabling circuit (EC) a conformance signals (CS1, CS2). An arbitration module (AM) generates from the latter signals, a plurality of which may be provided per cell of the input ATM stream (IN), a discard signal (DS) indicating wether or not such a cell may be inserted into an output stream (OUT) by a discard circuit (DC) as well as feedback signals (FS1, FS2) which indicate to a corresponding processor whether or not to carry out an already prepared update of a predicted arrival time used in the above mentioned algorithm. The architecture of the present policing device is very generic in that it allows implementation of any policing method by straightforwardly adapting the arbitration module and the enabling circuit.

  • Patent number: 5511066
Abstract: A policing method is proposed policing an aggregate ATM cell stream (IN) consisting of both high and low priority cells. The method consists in policing the aggregated stream as a whole whilst also policing separately a substream formed by the high priority cells as prescribed by ITU-TS recommendation I.371.

  • Patent number: 5343463
Abstract: A device (PMD) and a method for measuring the performances characteristics of a communication path of a telecommunication packet switching network (ATM) by transmitting test packets through this path while other live traffic is operating. The test packets are live data communication packets of the live traffic and of which the communication data has been replaced by performance measurement data. No traffic of test packets is thereby added to the existing live traffic and the latter is not disturbed by the measurements.
