    Abstract: The illumination system has a plurality of light emitters (R, G, B) and a light collimator (1) for collimating light emitted by the light emitters. Light propagation in the light-collimator is based on total internal reflection (TIR) towards a light-exit window (4) of the light-collimator. At least one light sensor (8) for optical feedback is placed outside the light-collimator and is arranged to receive light emitted by the light emitters exclusively through reflection at the light-exit window of the light-collimator. Preferably, the light sensor is placed substantially coplanar with the light emitters. Preferably, a side wall (35) of the light-collimator is provided with a protruding portion (9) for guiding the light reflected at the light-exit window of the light-collimator towards the light sensor. Preferably, the illumination system is provided with a reflector (12). Preferably, the illumination system comprises a holographic diffuser (17).

Preferably, the illumination system comprises a plurality of light-collimating sections each of the light-collimating sections being associated with at least one light emitter. The illumination system provides improved spatial and spatio-angular mixing of the light emitted by the light emitters.

    Abstract: A color-mixing lighting system has a light-emitting diode (6, 7) emitting first visible light having a first peak wave-length in a first spectral range and has a fluorescent material (8) converting a portion of the first visible light into second visible light having a second peak wavelength in a second spectral range. The second visible light has a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of at least 50 nm. Preferably, the second visible light is red light, the second peak wavelength being in the range from 590 to 630 ran, preferably, in the range from 600 to 615 nm. Preferably, the lighting system comprises a further light-emitting diode (7) for emitting third visible light having a third peak wavelength in a third spectral range. The color-mixing lighting system according to the invention generates white light with a high color-rendering index and allows certain variations in the wavelength of the primaries.
