    Abstract: The invention relates to a composition based on an aqueous dispersion of an addition polymer of one or more olefinically unsaturated monomers, emulsion stabilizers and/or emulsifiers and a silicon compound.The addition polymer comprises monomer units containing acid groups and the silicon compound used is an epoxysilane with the formula ##STR1## where R=epoxyalkyl (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4),R.sup.1 =alkyl (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) or phenyl,R.sup.2 =alkoxy (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4), alkyl (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) or phenyl,R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 =alkoxy (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) or OHThe compositon can be applied in adhesives and coatings.
