  • Patent number: 8360929
Abstract: In a control unit and a method for operating a hybrid drive arrangement (1) with an internal combustion engine (5), an electric drive (3) and a coupling device (20) that is arranged therebetween, when the internal combustion engine (5) and the electric drive (3) should be coupled together, the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine (5) is pilot-controlled to a target rotational speed level (N2) such that the drive shafts (4, 6) of the internal combustion engine (5) and the electric drive (3) run at least approximately synchronously. The pilot-control takes place by the throttle valve. Subsequently, the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine (5) is controlled in such a manner that the drive shafts (4, 6) of the internal combustion engine (5) and the electric drive (3) run essentially synchronously. Then, the drive shafts (4, 6) are joined by the coupling device (20).

  • Publication number: 20120116702
Abstract: A method for determining a closing time of a valve having a coil drive, in particular a direct injection valve for an engine of a motor vehicle, has the steps: (a) switching off a current flow through a coil (L_inj) of the coil drive, so that the coil (L_inj) is depowered, (b) capturing a time curve (110) of a voltage induced in the non-powered coil (L_inj), wherein the induced voltage is generated by decaying eddy currents in a magnetic circuit of the coil drive and by a motion of the armature relative to the coil (L_inj), (c) evaluating the captured time curve (110) of the voltage induced in the coil (L_inj), and (d) determining the closing time based on the evaluated time curve (110). A corresponding device and a computer program for determining the closing time of a valve with a coil drive can be provided accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20120109500
Abstract: In a method for operating an internal combustion engine having an intake tract and one injection valve per cylinder, a lambda controller having an associated lambda sensor for correcting an air-fuel ratio in the combustion chamber, an engine operating temperature is detected and a air mass target value in the combustion chamber is determined as a function of an engine operating state. When the lambda controller is deactivated, a first adaptation value is determined as a function of the captured operating temperature, of the determined air mass target value, and a prescribed first weighting value. A second adaptation value is further determined as a function of the determined air mass target value and a prescribed second weighting value. The metering of the fuel mass and/or a model of the air mass fed into the combustion chamber is corrected as a function of the first and second adaptation value.

  • Publication number: 20120097133
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has at least one injection valve for delivering fluid, which has an electromagnetic actuator. A final stage unit is designed for creating a current profile for triggering the electromagnetic actuator with at least one given profile parameter (PP). Upon achieving magnetic saturation of a magnetic circuit of the electromagnetic actuator an assigned saturation current (I_sat_mes) is determined and at least one profile parameter (PP) is adjusted depending on the saturation current (I_sat_mes) thus determined and a given reference saturation current.

  • Patent number: 7210449
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, according to which the air fed to the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine is pre-compressed by means of a boosting device, particularly an exhaust gas turbocharger. The valve overlap of the gas exchange valves of the internal combustion engine is adjusted by variably displacing the camshaft. The quantity of fuel to be injected, which is required for homogeneously operating the internal combustion engine, is determined and injected directly into the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine, the total quantity of fuel to be injected being divided into two partial quantities. A first partial quantity is injected into the intake stroke while a second partial quantity is injected into the compression stroke. The ratio at which the two partial quantities are divided is defined according to the load range of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 7182062
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling an injection of an internal combustion engine. The invention provides that after the internal combustion engine is started, the injection and/or the ignition is carried out according to a signal of an absolute position sensor device, particularly according to an absolute position sensor of a camshaft or according to an absolute position sensor of a crankshaft and to an angular range sensor. When a synchronization signal is detected by a sensor wheel of the crankshaft, the following control processes are carried out according to the synchronization signal, i.e. according to the position of the crankshaft. The inventive method is advantageous in that immediately after the internal combustion engine is started, a relatively precise signal for controlling the injection and/or the ignition is available. This enables a more precise combustion shortly after the internal combustion engine is started.

  • Patent number: 7155899
Abstract: The invention relates to the heating of an exhaust gas catalyst arranged on an internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection, variable valve drive and a blower device, whereby, after recognition of a cold start for the internal combustion engine, by means of a device, the valve lift (VH) and the valve overlap (VO) for the gas exchange valves and the position of a throttle valve, arranged in the inlet tract of the internal combustion engine are adjusted to give a positive pressure drop between the inlet side and the exhaust side of the internal combustion engine such that at least a part of the air pumped by the blower device is pumped directly from the inlet to the outlet side of the internal combustion engine into the exhaust line as flushing air. Optimal reaction conditions are thus obtained in the exhaust gas catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6658841
Abstract: To check a three-way catalytic converter, a NOx sensor is used to determine the NOx concentration downstream of the catalytic converter that is to be diagnosed. • Patent number: 6539705
Abstract: To monitor an exhaust-gas catalytic converter when the internal combustion engine is at its operating temperature, an NOx sensor is used to determine the NOx concentration downstream of the exhaust-gas catalytic converter which is to be diagnosed. During the diagnosis time, the oxygen loading of the exhaust-gas catalytic converter is increased, and the conversion ability of the exhaust-gas catalytic converter is worked out from the NOx concentration which is measured during a plurality of lambda controller oscillations.
