  • Patent number: 7780557
Abstract: Continuously variable transmission includes a set of pulleys, each pulley comprising two discs arranged relatively axially moveable on a central pulley shaft for clamping a transmission belt. The belt includes a continuous array of transverse elements, each having lateral pulley contact surfaces for contacting the belt contact surface of each of the pulley discs, and being provided slideably on an endless tensile element of the belt. Each pulley has a mechanical stiffness as incorporated in the transmission and a stiffness related feature of a pulley when expressed as a parameter Sag that indicates an amount of radial displacement of the belt between the discs in the transmission, occurring in response to imposing a maximum amount of axial force Fax during operation of the transmission, relative to a radial position of the belt in an unloaded state of the transmission, amounts to less than 1.2 mm but more than 0.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 7431674
Abstract: Continuously variable transmission provided with a primary pulley and a secondary pulley, around which a drive belt is arranged, clamped between two conical pulley discs of the respective pulley, a running surface of at least one pulley disc of the primary pulley and the secondary pulley, via which running surface this pulley disc contacts the drive belt, being provided, as seen in a cross section oriented perpendicular to a tangential direction, with a curvature, so that a pulley angle between a tangent on the running surface and a radial direction varies between a lowest value at the location of a radially innermost position on the running surface and a highest value at the location of a radially outermost position on the running surface. The curvature of the running surface of the primary pulley and that of the running surface of the secondary pulley differ from one another.

  • Patent number: 7175554
Abstract: A hydraulically controllable constant speed drive, includes an input shaft (10) provided with an input pulley (1), an output shaft (20) provided with an output pulley (2) and a drive belt (3). Each pulley (1; 2) is provided with two pulley sheaves (11, 12; 21, 22) that are mutually axially displaceable under the influence of a hydraulic pressure to be exerted in a piston-cylinder assembly (14, 15; 24, 25) associated with the pulley (1, 2) and that define a tapered groove of variable axial width wherein the drive belt (3) is accommodated. An input spring (17) is provided that realizes an axial force urging the pulley sheaves (11, 12) of the input pulley (1) towards each other to prevent slip of the drive belt (3) when the hydraulic pressure is negligible.
