  • Patent number: 5584573
Abstract: A headlight for motor vehicles is produced so that it has a light source emitting light rays, a reflector which forms by reflection from the light rays emitted by the light source a light beam which is dispersed in horizontal planes and extends substantially parallel in vertical planes. The reflector has an optical axis, the light source is arranged so that its longitudinal axis extends parallel to the optical axis of the reflector. The reflector has an apex region which is formed so that the light emitted from the light source is reflected by the apex region as light rays converging in horizontal longitudinal planes which produce great images of the light source in lateral edge regions of a measuring screen arranged in front of the reflector.

  • Patent number: 5353203
Abstract: The headlight has a one-piece reflector which includes an upper reflector portion with a light source for making a low beam, a lower reflector portion with another light source for making a fog light beam and a laterally positioned reflector portion for making a high beam. The lower reflector portion has a surface area which is comparatively small relative to the upper reflector portion. The light emitted from the other light source is reflected by the lower reflector portion in rays nearly parallel in a vertical longitudinal plane or inclined gently downward in the propagation direction. In the horizontal longitudinal plane light rays reflected from positions on the peak region of the lower reflector portion converge more as the distance of the position from the optic axis increases, light rays reflected from positions on the central region converge less as the distance of the position from the optic axis increases and light rays reflected from the edge region are nearly parallel.

  • Patent number: 5108160
Abstract: In a hydraulic brake system for feedback-free ABS control for mobile units, motor vehicles, motorcycles and the like, it is proposed that partial hydraulic units be provided in accordance with the number of desired closed and optionally also open brake circuits, and that the actuating piston of each shutoff valve provided in each partial hydraulic unit and interrupting the communication between the master brake cylinder and the associated wheel brake cylinder and simultaneously opening the communication between the wheel brake cylinder and a plunger-piston, with a pressure equalization face, which is acted upon in parallel with the pressure from the master brake cylinder line. As a result, given suitable embodiment and adaptation of the remaining pressure faces of the actuating piston, a pressure equilibrium is obtained in the sense of compensation for the working pressures exerted.

  • Patent number: 4153024
Abstract: A device which influences the composition of the operating mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine having a suction tube and a bypass. The suction tube includes an adjustable mixture quantity control member and the bypass line includes at least one throttle member. Structure is provided to vary the adjustment of the throttle member in proportion to the adjustment of the mixture quantity control member and thereby vary the flow cross section in the bypass. A second throttle member cooperates with the other throttle member and is controlled by a control device connected to the engine to further vary the flow cross section of the bypass. Alternatively, a stylus and cam structure are provided which are utilized to produce the further variance of the flow cross section of the bypass. In this regard the stylus is controlled by the control device.

  • Patent number: 4144858
Abstract: A fuel supply apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which fuel is supplied to the air induction tube in proportion to the aspirated air flow rate. A fuel metering valve, which may be electromagnetically actuated on the basis of engine rpm and other variables, is connected to the induction tube, possibly into the bypass channel of a carburetor to provide fine fuel control. Between the fuel metering valve and the induction tube there is disposed a pneumatic valve assembly including an equal pressure valve, the pressure chamber of which controls the fuel flow and the control chamber of which is coupled to the pressure chamber of a further, differentially-biased pressure control valve connected to downstream portions of the induction tube. The differential pressure valve maintains the control pressure in the equal pressure valve.

  • Patent number: 4130266
Abstract: A pressure control valve for regulating the gas pressure in a conduit is composed of two chambers, one of which receives control fluid under well-defined pressure for the purpose of adjusting the pressure of the medium in the second chamber and in the conduit to follow changes of the control fluid pressure. A soft, non-resilient double diaphragm divides the two chambers and the space between the two diaphragms is accessible from the outside and may be supplied with gas or fluid at higher pressure. The valve has a compensating piston which is attached to the diaphragms and glides in a blind bore the end of which communicates with the second chamber in which the pressure is controlled.

  • Patent number: 4083341
Abstract: A process and related apparatus for regulating the fuel-air mixture delivered to the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine by the admission of auxiliary air the quantity of which corresponds with the quantity of the aspirated fresh air forms the subject of this invention. An air bypass line is provided for bypassing a venturi constriction disposed in a suction tube upstream of a throttle flap valve. Associated with the air bypass line are a pressure regulating valve, a bypass throttle device and a control circuit including a pair of shut-off valves, or alternatively a three way valve, with an appropriate control for controlling the valves and accordingly the reduced pressure produced by the venturi constriction, which is communicated to the bypass throttle device, or the control pressure of the pressure regulating valve.

  • Patent number: 4083342
Abstract: The fuel preparation system of an internal combustion engine is provided with an air bypass line which delivers fresh air directly to the intake manifold downstream of the mixture generator, which may be a carburetor, for example. The air flow through the bypass is controlled, firstly, by a valve actuated in synchronism with an air flow meter in the main induction tube and, secondly, by a pressure controlled valve. The pressure controlled valve is connected to sources of different pressure by solenoid valves which are operated on the basis of engine information, for example the exhaust gas composition.

  • Patent number: 4083338
Abstract: The induction manifold of an internal combustion engine is provided with an air bypass conduit which has an air flow metering valve which is controlled by the same differential pressure experienced by the air responsive element of the carburetor in the induction tube. The pressure drop across this valve is further influenced by a second air metering valve acting as a pressure control valve, also located in the bypass line downstream of the first metering valve. A regulator responsive to engine conditions controls valves which cause selective admission of different pressures to the actuation chamber of the pressure control valve to regulate the amount of bypassed air.

  • Patent number: 4075993
Abstract: The air induction tube of an internal combustion engine has an air flow rate meter which is displaced pivotably by the air stream. Connected to the pivoting element is a pressure cell which provides the restoring force for the moving element. The pressure of this cell is determined by the pressure in an air bypass line and by the actuation of valves connected to a constant pressure source. The bypass line also contains a pressure control valve which controls the amount of fresh air fed to the engine and a flow valve whose displacement is coupled to the air flow rate meter.
