  • Patent number: 8951399
Abstract: A method for continuously manufacturing lithium transition metal phosphates of the formula LiMPO4, comprising the steps of providing an aqueous reaction mixture containing LION, H3PO4, and a transition metal sulphate, converting the reaction mixture into a lithium transition metal phosphate, separating the solid lithium transition metal phosphate from the soluble part of the reaction mixture, subjecting the soluble part (diluate) to an electrodialysis, and isolating the part of the electrodialysate that contains an aqueous LiOH solution.

  • Publication number: 20020192139
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing aerogels and to an apparatus for carrying out the method. The aerogels are produced semi-continuously by per se known methods in that, following gel formation, the lyogel is transferred to a mobile container for at least two further procedural steps, the container comprising inlets and outlets and in that for these procedural steps, the container is moved to appropriate stations for the supply and discharge of materials, at which stations it is connected to feed and discharge means and in that the procedural steps are carried out there. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a container with a container top part and container bottom part, an encircling seal and a bag adapted to be placed into the container, the bag being connected along the opening and at least partially to thickening elements, container top and bottom parts being connected along their periphery in gastight fashion to corresponding parts of a retaining device.

  • Patent number: 6415993
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for preparing a rapidly solidifying mixture from a plurality of liquid components and subsequent atomization of the solidifying mixture. The apparatus comprises a mixing chamber (4), a liquid distributor (1′,7) and N identical, droplet-forming nozzles (9a,9b) connected to the liquid distributor. The liquids to be mixed can be fed separately to the mixing chamber and the mixing chamber has neither significant back-mixing in the areas in which reactions can occur, nor significant dead spaces in the flow in these areas. The liquid distributor (1′,7) is connected to the mixing chamber and divides the mixed stream coming from the mixing chamber equally over the nozzles (9a,9b) without significant back-mixing or dead spaces in the flow, so that the flow properties of the partial streams and their residence time in the liquid distributor are identical.

  • Patent number: 6378229
Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for the sub-critical drying of lyogels to produce aerogels. The method for the sub-critical drying of lyogels to produce aerogels provides for the lyogel particles to be disposed as a fixed bed and for a drying gas to be passed through them.

  • Patent number: 6156120
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for the uniform distribution of a small amount of liquid on bulk materials. The method is performed by spraying the liquid with at least one ultrasonic nozzle onto the bulk material, which is finely particulate. The spraying may occur before, during, or both before and during, mixing the particulate solid in a mixing apparatus. Dust may be significantly reduced by the apparatus of the instant invention, and the apparatus is useful for applying not only liquids, but emulsions, solutions, dispersions, or melts. The mixer may be mechanical or pneumatic.
