  • Patent number: 5631510
Abstract: An electric drive with brakes, in particular for hoists, lifting devices or positioning transporting systems, having a brake disk which is movable axially on a motor shaft so as to rotate therewith via a toothing. The brake disk has brake faces at both sides and can be pressed against a stationary counter-brake disk by a spring force. An electromagnetic device is provided which, when connected to current, causes the brake to be released against the spring force. The electromagnetic device has a.c. magnets and E-shaped magnet coil yokes. The counter-pole faces associated with the coil yokes are arranged at magnet yokes which can move angularly on all sides so that the counter-pole faces can be aligned at the end faces of the E-shaped magnet coil yokes located opposite thereto when current is applied to the a.c. magnet.

  • Patent number: 5507472
Abstract: A hoist, including: load suspension device, a lifting means for raising and lowering the load suspension device; a traction mechanism connecting the suspension device with the lifting device; and a control device for the lifting device and the load suspension device. The control device is connected with the load suspension device and including a housing, a handle for manipulating the load suspension means, switching members arranged in the housing which are actuable for controlling the lifting device, and switching rockers arranged in the housing so as to be able to actuate the switching members. The switching rockers are each inclined toward the handle and are swivable around and connected to one end of a rocker shaft extending horizontally when the control device is considered as vertically suspended from the traction mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5480125
Abstract: A hoist with a lifting device, by way of which a load suspension device connected with the lifting device via a traction mechanism can be raised and lowered, and with a control device which is arranged between the load suspension device and the traction mechanism and includes a housing with a handle for manipulating the load suspension device. Switching members are arranged in the housing for controlling the lifting device, and a high-strength connecting member is fastened in the housing, with the traction mechanism and the load suspension device being fastened to the connecting member. The housing is divided into a mechanical part with the handle for receiving an actuating mechanism for the switching members and into an electrical part for receiving the switching members with the connecting member being arranged between the mechanical part and the electrical part.

  • Patent number: 4506242
Abstract: A circuit breaker is disclosed wherein two breakers are arranged in mirror image relation having their respective contacts facing each other and abutting alternately either a common contact carrier of U-shaped configurations while double contact is prevented mechanically. In an alternative version the stationary contacts are arranged for an axial operation change. The arrangement permits reduction in internal connections as well as in space requirement without loss in function as compared with known multiple circuit breaker units.

  • Patent number: 4233479
Abstract: A step control switch for variable speed electric motors and the like is provided in which several spring forces are utilized in various combinations in order to reduce the velocity of the thrust force of the control button in either increasing or decreasing the speed of the device being controlled. By utilizing a spring between the push button and the control body of the switch which is placed under an initial stress, and countering the force of that spring with several combinations of springs in the opposite direction, a smooth transition is achieved among the several positions of the switch.

  • Patent number: 4209681
Abstract: A suspended pull or control switch is provided for overhead mechanical devices, such as power hoists, in which the control switch is so suspended and configured to be physiologically oriented with respect to the attendant's position that the attendant may grasp and visually consult the switch over a long period of time without becoming as fatigued as is the case with conventionally positioned switches. This is achieved by configuring the body of the switch, or at least that portion grasped, to be angled from the vertical axis of suspension of the switch to that degree necessary for the handle portion to be ergonomically work-oriented with the attendant's hand and angle of vision. A dual control switch may be utilized in which both hands of the attendant would be conformed to.

  • Patent number: 4026526
Abstract: An operating element is provided between a hoist motor and the load therefor, which incorporates an integral handle. The handle includes a right-hand and a left-hand toggle switch connection so that the hoist motor can be operated with either hand. The handle is horizontal and connected at each end to the operating element by a web to provide an open space for insertion of the hand. The space is essentially surrounded to protect the hand from injury. The casing of the operating element is comprised of an upper and lower half made of a light-weight resilient synthetic material. The casing surrounds a yoke comprised of a heavy-duty material, which yoke provides a direct connection between the hoist motor and the load. Also, the yoke is configured to partially surround the main operating switch in the element for protection and includes opposed integral stops for limiting the extent of movement of the switch.
