  • Publication number: 20110094173
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wall system which has a solid wood construction on both an inner and outer side with an insulation cavity between, and to an improved building construction utilising the wall system. A plurality of boards is arranged in an interior stack of boards and an exterior stack of boards on a base platform. The interior and exterior stacks of boards are spaced apart by vertical members. The vertical members are spaced apart at spaced locations along the wall. The vertical members have a spanning portion; the interior and exterior stacks of boards are spaced apart by the width of the spanning portion. The vertical members extend across the height of a plurality of boards of each stack of boards.

  • Patent number: 6412245
Abstract: A building member is formed from a pair of spaced apart boards connected between the opposed faces by narrow connecting members which extend the length thereof. The edges of the connecting members are preferably retained within channels in the opposed faces of the wooden boards. The boards and the connecting members enclose an insulation space which may be filled with an insulation material. A selection of advantageous connection profiles is disclosed for the connection between the edge of the connecting member and the channel of a board. One of the boards may instead comprise an extruded siding, for example of aluminium or plastic, with a leg extending perpendicularly from the siding forming the connecting member. The building member may be constructed in a simple process and reduces wastage of material which often occurs in forming laminated solid timber building products while offering enhanced insulative properties.

  • Patent number: 5443878
Abstract: A composite weatherboard having a timber member and a metal exterior sheath. The sheath is extruded with longitudinal projections which are fitted and pressed into permanent engagement with corresponding grooves or tongues provided in the timber member thereby obviating the need to use an adhesive or other fastener.

  • Patent number: 4485538
Abstract: An insulation filled building plank having two spaced apart boards held together and separated by webs having dovetail connections with the boards and being at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the plank so that any transverse cut of the plank will cut a web is produced on apparatus which first cuts matching dovetail grooves on surfaces of the boards arranged face to face after which the boards are turned to have the dovetail surfaces facing each other and the apparatus pulls dovetails of webs into the grooves in the boards from a magazine and then the apparatus fills the spaces between the webs and boards with an in situ foamable insulation.

  • Patent number: 4400925
Abstract: Joining planks to form a wall construction. Each plank has a wooden facing member on each side and there is insulation between the facing member and in each facing member there are jointing surfaces facing away from a surface of the facing member and to this surface another plank is joined and metal connecting members are inserted with connecting arms which are in contact with the jointing surfaces of the contacting facing members of contiguous planks. There is no metallic contact across the joined planks between the connecting members which have arms in contact with the jointing surfaces of the parallel facing members of the planks which are to be joined.
