  • Publication number: 20110292209
Abstract: A device for recognizing correct use of an alcohol-measuring device by a driver in a vehicle has at least the alcohol-measuring device, an analyzing and control unit and a camera unit. At least an area of the face of the driver can be detected by the image field of the camera unit. The analyzing and control unit is connected to a driving control unit for detecting motion of the vehicle, to the camera unit and to the alcohol-measuring device. The camera unit can be activated by the analyzing and control unit as a function of the driving control unit in such a way that at least the area of the face of the driver is detected.

  • Patent number: 5932079
Abstract: An electrochemical measuring cell for the simultaneous detection of different gas components in a gas sample, with a plurality of measuring electrodes (4, 5, 6) behind a diffusion barrier (7), with a common reference electrode (8) and counterelectrode (9) in an acid electrolyte, and with a potentiostatic evaluating circuit. Improvements in terms of service life for a sensor for the simultaneous detection of oxygen and carbon monoxide is provided with a reference electrode formed of a sintered mixture of metal and its metal oxide, preferably from the platinum group, the iridium group or gold and the potential of the CO-measuring electrode (5) relative to the reference electrode (8) is set at about 0 to 300 mV, and that of the O.sub.2 -measuring electrode (4) is set at a value between -300 and -800 mV.

  • Patent number: 4901197
Abstract: The invention is directed to a sensor for making capacitive measurements of the pressure in gases and contains two measuring electrodes conjointly defining a capacitor and arranged in spaced relationship to each other. This sensor is improved such that a pressure measurement is possible without deformable parts. Long-term drift free measurements can be carried out with even the smallest electrode spacing being realized so that miniature sensors can be provided. The intermediate space between the electrodes is accessible to the gas to be investigated and has electrically insulating spacers between the electrodes. The spacers determine the spacing between the electrodes and maintains the electrode spacing during the measurement.

  • Patent number: 4654624
Abstract: A gas sensor has a plurality of sensor elements disposed on a common supporting substrate and a heating arrangement for generating the operating temperature necessary for measurement. The gas sensor unites sensor elements, which furnish desired measured quantities in different ways, on a common substrate while minimizing the heating capacity as much as possible and with a maximum possible sensitivity of response. To this end, a first group of sensors are configured as thin-film semiconductor sensors and a second group of sensor elements are disposed on a narrowed portion of the supporting substrate. Both groups of sensors are disposed on the same surface of the supporting substrate.

  • Patent number: 4644141
Abstract: A radiation source for infrared radiation includes an area radiator and a resistance layer which are arranged on a support substrate. The heat capacity of the radiation source is to be reduced to the extent that a modulation of the intensity of the radiation source with sufficiently high frequencies is made possible. To this end it is provided that the resistance layer is disposed in a thinned region of the support substrate.
