  • Patent number: 5522730
Abstract: An electrical pin field is shown having a printed circuit board having a plurality of pins inserted therethrough, having contact sections positioned on opposite sides of the board. An insulating housing is positioned on one side of the printed circuit board, whereas a housing is positioned on the opposite side, being held in place by way of a locking plate. The locking plate includes two opposing locking arms, which when the locking plate, and housing are fully positioned on the printed circuit board grip the pin terminal portions adjacent to the board, thereby retaining the housing to the board.

  • Patent number: 5342211
Abstract: A shielded back plane connector is disclosed comprising a header assembly and a daughter board connector. The daughter board connector includes an upper and lower shield where the upper and lower shields include stamped windows thereby forming passages for allowing structural ribs of the housing to pass therethrough while providing a contact for contact with grounding pins disposed in the header assembly. A cross talk shield can be positioned intermediate each of the terminal sub-assemblies thereby reducing the cross talk between adjacent terminals. A shield includes a contact portion for contacting the center terminal in the shielded sub-assembly, for using the center terminal as a ground terminal.

  • Patent number: 5173058
Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed which can electrically terminate flexible cable to a printed circuit board. The connector includes an insulating housing having a plurality of terminals which extend forwardly towards the front face. The terminals are each provided with horizontal base sections, and a retention leg. The terminals include first contact portions. The terminals further comprise spring portions having a second contact portion opposed from the first contact portion. A lever section extends from the spring portion. A cam actuator is installed on the connector housing with individual cam sections aligned with, and below, the lever sections of the terminals. The cam actuator is rotatable relative to the housing to cam the terminals open for insertion of the conductors.

  • Patent number: 5104341
Abstract: An electrical connector is shown which is mountable to a printed circuit board (200) which includes a plurality of insulating housings (4). The housings accept a plurality of terminal subassemblies (60) where the subassemblies integrally mold therein a plurality of electrical terminals (64-67). Cross talk shield members (180) are insertable into the rear of the connector housing (4) to shield adjacent vertical rows of terminals from cross talk. Resilient contact members (194 or 194') are stamped from the ground member (180) and are profiled to contact one of the contact members (64 or 65). Upper (100) and lower (100') shield members are insertable over the assembly to shield the assembly from EMI/RFI.

  • Patent number: 5066236
Abstract: An electrical connector is shown which is mountable to a printed circuit board (230) which includes a plurality of insulating housings (4). The vertical row of terminals is formed as a subassembly (60) where the terminals (72-75) are integrally molded within an insert 82 of dielectric material. The lengths of the sections (72a, 73a, 74a, 75a) of the terminals (72-75) which are within the molded insert (82) vary to alter the impedance of the terminals 72-75, thereby matching the overall impedance of the terminals (72-75). Cross-talk shield members (180') are insertable into the rear of the connector housing (4) to shield adjacent vertical rows of terminals from cross-talk. Upper (100) and lower (100') shield members are insertable over the assembly to shield the assembly from EMI/RFI.
