  • Patent number: 6672924
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube (1). In the method, a cone part (4) of the tube is first provided with a first coating (13) so as to reduce an annoying crackling sound, whereafter a neck part (5) is connected to the cone part (4). Due to the presence of a closing element (20) on the cone part (4), said first coating is prevented from covering an inner surface of the cone part (4). As a consequence, the performance of the tube is not affected. A good quality of the connection is obtained if the layer thickness of the first coating (13) is equal to or less than 1 &mgr;m. A suitable material for the first coating is Antimony Tin Oxide combined with TEOS.

  • Patent number: 6629868
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube includes arranging the tube with its neck part in a downward position, and covering the inner surface of its funnel-shaped part with a carrier liquid including a conductive material. Carrier liquid is supplied through a pipe positioned near an edge of the funnel-shaped part and close to the inner surface of the funnel-shaped part. The pipe and the funnel-shaped part are moved with respect to each other so that a projection of the pipe on the inner surface describes a trajectory on the inner surface of the funnel-shaped part which is substantially parallel to the edge of the funnel-shaped part, thus allowing the carrier liquid to drain downwardly, thereby leaving a coating formed by a residue of the conductive material on the inner surface. During the covering step, the pipe and the funnel-shaped part are moved with respect to each other to describe a non-closed loop trajectory, such that a high-voltage connection element is not completely coated.

  • Publication number: 20020114054
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical element comprising a substrate which is provided with a transparent layer comprising an organic polymer network and one or more photochromic compounds, in which the transmission of the optical element in the visible wavelength range changes in response to a variation of incident light, while the transparent layer comprising photochromic compounds is provided with a protective coating on the side remote from the substrate side.

  • Publication number: 20010053649
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a cathode ray tube comprising a funnel-shaped part (1) connected to a neck part (5), the funnel-shaped part having an inner surface and a high-voltage connection element (30). The manufacturing method comprises the step of covering the inner surface of the funnel-shaped part (1) with a carrier liquid comprising a conductive material. The covering step comprises: supplying the carrier liquid through a pipe (3) positioned near an edge (4) of the funnel-shaped part and close to the inner surface of the funnel-shaped part (1). The pipe and the funnel-shaped part are moved with respect to each other, while a projection of the pipe on the inner surface thereby describes a trajectory (20) on the inner surface of the funnel-shaped part which is substantially parallel to the edge (4) of the funnel-shaped part. The carrier liquid is allowed to drain downwardly, and thereby leaves a coating (26) formed by a residue of the conductive material on the inner surface.

  • Patent number: 4085235
Abstract: A suspension comprising electrically conductive material, a binder, and from 3% to 30% by weight of sodium carbonate or potassium carbonate is applied to a wall portion of a cathode-ray tube and then dried and fired. This provides a layer in which hardly any bubbles have formed during the firing of the cathode-ray tube and which during firing produces no gases which detrimentally influence the emission of the cathode.

  • Patent number: 3978563
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an electric discharge tube having an oxide cathode, wherein a suspension is made containing a carbonate mixture, a solution of nitrocellulose as a first binder and a second binder selected from the group of polyimides, highly molecular acrylate resins, and nylon types, a cathode support is coated with the suspension and dried, whereupon the cathode is mounted in the tube and, upon evacuation of the tube, is activated at 1200.degree.C.
