  • Publication number: 20030057016
Abstract: A muffler arrangement includes an exhaust-gas muffler (4), which is subdivided into an inlet space (9) and an outlet space (10). An exhaust-gas stub (3) of an internal combustion engine (1) opens into the inlet space (9). Exhaust gas is conducted from the outlet space (10) into an air channel (15) via an exhaust-gas outlet (12). The air channel (15) is formed between the housing (4c) of the exhaust-gas muffler (4) and an outer cover (16) and extends along a side of the exhaust-gas muffler (4). A cooling-air component flow (18) is branched from a cooling-air flow of a cooling-air blower (5) and enters at a first end (25) of the air channel (15). The cooling-air component flow (18) exits again at the other second end (35) of the air channel (15).

  • Patent number: 6041890
Abstract: An exhaust gas muffler for an internal combustion engine of a portable, hand-guided working tool has a housing having an exhaust gas inlet, and exhaust gas outlet, and an outlet space, wherein the exhaust gas outlet opens into the outlet space. An outlet opening is provided downstream of the outlet space and has wall elements directing the exhaust gas flow in the exit flow direction. A rebound wall is positioned transverse to the exhaust gas outlet and delimits the outlet space while providing a connecting slot into the outlet opening. The connecting slot is spaced at a distance from the outer wall of the housing that extends substantially parallel to the rebound wall. A first ramp is positioned perpendicularly to the connecting slot and slants upwardly from the rebound wall to the outlet opening. A second ramp extends in a direction of longitudinal extension of the connecting slot from an end of the insertion slot opposite the first ramp to the edge of the first ramp opposite the connecting slot.

  • Patent number: 5959262
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust-gas muffler for a two-stroke engine in a portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw. The muffler housing includes an outer shell and an inner shell and also includes an exhaust-gas inlet and an exhaust-gas outlet. A fire-protective screen is arranged in the exhaust-gas flow of the muffler. With the invention, a high service life of the fire-protective screen is achieved together with an easier exchangeability. This is achieved in that the fire-protective screen can be inserted from outside of the housing into the interior of the muffler. The screen covers the exhaust-gas inlet into an inlet chamber of the muffler. At this location, the temperature of the exhaust gas is high so that coking of the screen is very slight.

  • Patent number: 5607594
Abstract: In the process for purifying an aqueous MDEA-solution the formate content of the MDEA-solution circulated in a main stream between the absorber and desorber of a hydrogen sulfide wash unit for gas produced by gasification of a carbonaceous material, e.g. coal, is measured. A partial stream of MDEA-solution is withdrawn from the main stream, passed over an ion exchange medium which removes some formate present to form a partially purified partial stream and subsequently the purified partial stream is returned to the main stream. The amount of the withdrawal from the main stream is controlled so that the formate content of the main stream is maintained between 10 and 30 g/l. Only from 0.5 to 0.08% by volume need be withdrawn from the main stream to form the partial stream. The ion exchange medium can be regenerated with a hydroxide-containing solution, which is subsequently fed to an ammonia separator column of a hydrogen sulfide wash apparatus.
