  • Publication number: 20230356604
Abstract: It is aimed to provide a power management system for an electrically driven vehicle that comprises a powertrain of at least two electric motors that can be selectively geared into the powertrain and an electric power source for powering the at least two electric motors. The power management system comprises a mechanical power demand indicator, indicating a level of mechanical power demanded from the powertrain, and an electrical power demand estimator, arranged to estimate an electrical power demand from the electric power source of a respective one of the at least two electrical motors as a function of the demanded mechanical power. The power management system is arranged to activate or deactivate a respective one of said at least two electric motors in response to the mechanical power demand indicator.

  • Publication number: 20230258726
Abstract: A battery pack monitor includes a portable housing, a controller within the housing, and a memory communicatively connected to the controller. The battery pack monitor further includes a power source positioned within the housing and operatively connected to the controller. The battery pack monitor includes a battery pack connector comprising a wired battery interface electrically connectable between the controller and a battery pack management system of a high voltage battery pack. The controller includes executable instructions which, when executed, cause the controller to receive, via the wired battery interface, status information from the high voltage battery pack, store the status information in the memory, and based on the status information, generate one or more battery status alerts.

  • Patent number: 10823128
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing or controlling an automatic engine restart system of a vehicle are provided herein. The method is operative to disable automatic engine restarts during specified restart inhibit periods to improve the comfort of the operator of the vehicle and others near the vehicle (e.g., during hoteling) or to satisfy regulations (e.g. silent area or green zone). During times outside of the specified restart inhibit periods, the method may control the automatic restarts to provide a determined level of charge for a rechargeable electrical energy source (e.g., battery) of the vehicle at a time just prior to the restart inhibit period so that the electrical energy source will be able to power various loads for an extended time during the restart inhibit period. The system includes a local or remote user interface that allows various parameters to be programmed. The system may also include an energy management system that optimizes the automatic restarts to achieve various goals.
