  • Patent number: 9567937
Abstract: In a method for operating a fuel injection device of a motor vehicle, fuel is conveyed under high pressure into a high-pressure reservoir, the pressure of which is controlled with the aid of a pressure regulation and from which fuel is taken for injection via at least one fuel injection valve under the control of a control device. A control pressure deviation of the pressure in the high-pressure reservoir is detected and the existence of a balance disturbance between quantity of fuel supplied to the high-pressure reservoir and quantity of fuel taken from the high-pressure reservoir is deduced from the control pressure deviation. If a balance disturbance exists, operational influencing of the fuel injection device counteracting the balance disturbance is produced and/or a corresponding report is generated.

  • Patent number: 9360394
Abstract: A method for specifying a malfunction of an exhaust gas recirculation system of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, including: setting a first operating point of the engine and a first operating state of the fresh air/exhaust gas system as vehicle conditioning in a first measurement setting; measuring volumetric efficiencies of the engine for the first measurement setting and for at least one additional measurement setting, and comparing the measured volumetric efficiencies with an engine characteristics map stored in a memory unit for volumetric efficiency values of the engine, and ascertaining whether a malfunction is present during the exhaust gas recirculation process based on the comparison; and specifying the malfunction of the exhaust gas recirculation system while taking into account the measuring results for the first measurement setting and for the at least one additional measurement setting and the stored engine characteristics map for volumetric efficiency values.

  • Patent number: 8650941
Abstract: A method for checking the functionality of at least one injector (10) of an internal combustion engine (8), in which at least the functionality of a lambda sensor (12), which is designed to ascertain a state of the at least one injector (10) is checked, a steady-state operating condition of the internal combustion engine (8) being set, and a check being performed as to whether at least one signal of the lambda sensor (12) is stable for the set operating condition. Depending on whether the signal of the lambda sensor (12) is stable, a lambda value for the at least one injection valve (10) is measured using the lambda sensor (12) at the set operating condition.

  • Patent number: 8612125
Abstract: A method for acquiring operating data of an internal combustion engine in a control unit during a diagnostic function of the control unit, and for transmitting the operating data from the control unit to a diagnostics device, the operating data being determined in the control unit with the aid of sensors assigned to the internal combustion engine. Desired operating data type and time resolution of the value reception is transmitted from the diagnostic device. Operating data are collected in the control unit with the aid of a diagnostic function. The diagnostics device and the control unit are connected via standardized interfaces, whose transmission speed is limited. Data values are buffered in a memory in the control unit. Speed of data acquisition may be selected independently of the transmission speed of the interface between the control unit and the diagnostics device. Data acquisition synchronous with the rotational speed is possible.

According to the invention, it is provided that a specification of an operating data type and of a temporal resolution of the value reception is transmitted from the diagnostics device to the diagnostic function, that the operating data are collected in the control unit with the aid of the diagnostic function, that the value acquisition is started by the diagnostics device, that the operating data are stored in a buffer memory in the control unit, and that the operating data are transmitted from the buffer memory to the diagnostics device.
