  • Patent number: 5063873
Abstract: The doctor device has a profile member pivotally mounted to a retaining member that is carried on a mount. Vertical movement of the mount causes angular displacement of the profile member thereby changing the material applicaton area disposed adjacent and upstream of the doctor. The doctor is either a doctor blade or roll doctor. In the case of a roll doctor, a receptacle is formed in the profile member and the roll doctor is magnetically retained with the receptacle. During application of a material to an application surface with the roll doctor, the roll doctor is magnetically attracted to the application surface by a second magnetic device located beneath the application surface or work surface.

  • Patent number: 4998500
Abstract: A squeegee device applies material to a web substrate, which is guided across or held in contact with an abutment. The support body of the sequeegee contains a magnetic device extending along its longitudinal direction that holds a squeegee element made of magnetizable material. The squeegee edge is held against the substrate by the force of a magnetic device in the support body of the squeegee and a magnetic device under the abutment. In an alternative embodiment, no magnetic device is located under the abutment. However the abutment is made of ferrous metal to attract the magnetic device, causing pressure between the substrate and squeegee.

  • Patent number: 4993352
Abstract: A squeegee device is used for applying materials of varying viscosities, such as coating substances, varnishes and adhesives to an application surface. The squeegee is pressed onto the application surface by a magnetic force. A profile member houses the squeegee and is pivotably supported by a bearing. The bearing allows the squeegee and profile member to be tiltable along an axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the squeegee or profile member in order to insure a tilting-free and bending-free adjustment of the squeegee on the application surface.

  • Patent number: 4989509
Abstract: In a device for applying fluid substances in printing and coating machines, carrying plates are fixed to ends of a carrying beam. The carrying plates have recesses therein in which pivot axles of a coating roller are loosely and rotatably mounted. Stopping surfaces are provided to limit lateral movement of the coating roller by abutting with its pivot axles. The stopping surfaces are formed adjacent the recesses formed in the carrying plates and converge in the direction in which a fabric strip which is to be printed on is moved beneath the roller.

  • Patent number: 4943451
Abstract: In a process and a device for the impregnating and/or coating application of liquid, optionally foamed substances, through a slot the parts of the device performing the application are arranged to form a surface almost plan-parallel to the surface of the sheet material to be subjected to the application so that the trailing end of the application device is supported by the sheet material. Between the application device and the surface to be coated, a hydraulic pressure is generated which floatingly supports the device and which has a uniformizing effect on the application layer.

  • Patent number: 4940013
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for use in coating and possibly impregnating fabric webs with a coating compound. The apparatus utilizes a magnetic element or cylinder, located on a first side of a fabric web, to attract a magnetically attractable squeegee device, located on a second side of the fabric web, into contact with the fabric web. A second squeegee device or a cylinder is mounted against the magnetic eleemtn and is also located on the first side of the fabric web. This second squeegee device is also located such that when the first squeegee device is attracted toward and contacts the fabric web, the fabric web comes into contact with the second squeegee device, thus providing that the fabric web will be contacted on both sides with equal pressure by the respective squeegee devices.

  • Patent number: 4665723
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for applying a treatment liquid to a web moving horizontally in a predetermined direction and having a width measured horizontally perpendicular to the direction has a body extending longitudinally above the goods the full width thereof and formed with a longitudinally extending body chamber. The liquid is supplied to the chamber via appropriate passages and conduits. A nozzle bar secured to the body is formed with a bar chamber extending longitudinally the full length thereof and with an outlet slot opening downward from the bar chamber. The bar and body are formed with at least one upright connecting passage between the chambers. Thus the liquid in the body chamber flows via the passage into the bar chamber. The liquid is distributed uniformly the length of the chambers, principally by maintaining a generally constant pressure on the liquid in the body chamber. The pressure can be maintained by a piston upwardly closing and vertically displaceable in the chamber.
