  • Patent number: 4928141
Abstract: In a document copier/printer wherein copy sheet is of a length which exceeds the distance between a transfer station and a fusing station, a velocity differential is established between the two stations so that the copy sheet forms a buckle therebetween which varies from an initial position, and in a predetermined direction, during operation. A sensor detects when the buckle reaches a predetermined configuration and sends a signal to one of the two stations to change the media speed at that location for a length of time sufficient to restore the buckle to the original configuration. The cycle may be repeated several times during a process run.

  • Patent number: 4436301
Abstract: A recirculating document handler having a document restack transport. The transport includes a series of spaced vacuum assisted drive belts for transporting successive documents to a position above a document stacking tray. A sensor is used to note the passage of a document lead edge past an input to the restack transport. After a delay which allows the document to be driven to the position above the stacking tray the document is separated from the drive belts by a knockdown bail and a reduction in the vacuum attraction between the document and the drive belts. The bail comprises a series of rods supported in locations between the drive belts which pivot into contact with the document and drive it into the stacking tray. The rods contact the document near its trailing edge to force the trail edge to the stacking tray.

  • Patent number: 4116558
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing duplex copies in pre-collated output copy sets from a set of documents recirculated in order by first copying only the even-ordered documents in the set once onto the first sides of substrates and transporting those copies to a buffer; then making individual copies in order of all the documents by alternately copying odd order documents on the reverse side of copies fed from the buffer while alternately copying even ordered documents onto copy substrates fed from a different copy substrate source, and transporting the copies made from the buffer to an output tray to create pre-collated sets while simultaneously transporting the copies from the other copy substrate source to the buffer to replace the copies fed therefrom; repeatedly individually copying all of the documents in the set in the latter manner by a number of document recirculations equal to one less than the total number of copy sets desired, and then, for a last copy set, making copies of only the odd ordered d
