  • Publication number: 20210023393
Abstract: The invention relates to a polymeric dosimetric sheet with a thickness of 0.8 to 10.0 mm which contains a radiochromic dye and other additives and which reacts with x-ray or other ionizing radiation to form a stable color. The invention also relates to a stack of the dosimetric sheets which constitute a three-dimensional dosimeter. Upon irradiation, the sheet stack captures the radiation field of an applied radiation treatment plan. The irradiated sheet stack is disassembled and scanned with readily available devices to afford an array of two-dimensional images which can verify the treatment plan throughout the entire target volume by computerized methods.

  • Patent number: 9357925
Abstract: The present invention discloses a device to measure optical properties of a three-dimensional transparent dosimeter, and a method to use the device to produce a valid, reproducible, and quantitative image of optical properties across essentially the entire volume of the transparent dosimeter. The invention provides significant and useful improvements over existing practice.

  • Publication number: 20070020793
Abstract: The invention relates to a solid plastic three-dimensional dosimeter which is useful in treatment planning, optimization of the radiation field, dose verification, dose validation, commissioning, and quality assurance of complex radiotherapeutic procedures. Dosimeters of the invention can be formed in any clinically relevant shape, and contain a reporter leuco dye which forms a colored image upon irradiation.

  • Patent number: 7098463
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of forming a three-dimensional (3D) dosimetric map in a solid translucent or transparent polymer and to an article of manufacture comprising a polymer formulated to capture data imparted by incident penetrating radiation. The present invention provides a method of preparation of a solid translucent or transparent polymer matrix capable of detecting and displaying a dose or doses of penetrating radiation by forming within the polymeric matrix a 3D dosimetric map which is measurable and quantifiable by various known procedures. The dosimetric map is representative of the 3D distribution of the dose or doses of the penetrating radiation to which the polymer had been exposed and can be quantified at high spatial resolution, thereby providing an accurate, stable, storable record in three dimensions of the radiation exposure or dosing event(s).
