  • Patent number: 5231123
Abstract: A basing cement comprises, in weight percent, 80 to 85 filler material of limestone and lithopone, and 15 to 20 of binder resins including at least 6 weight percent of araucaria resin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 2, 1990
Date of Patent: July 27, 1993
    Assignee: GTE Products Corporation
Inventors: Nidhi Goel, John A. Arbie, Sr., Kevin L. Brown, Doris L. Brown
  • Patent number: 5007181
Abstract: A method for making stir-in type halophosphate phosphors to obtain a fluffy, deagglomerated powder is disclosed. A wet phosphor filter cake is fed into a toroidal-shaped direct-fired glass flash dryer in which a hot gaseous stream is circulating. The wet phosphor particles are suspended in the stream while the remaining liquid is evaporated. The dried phosphor powder is ejected from the dryer by centrifugal force and collected. Recovery efficiency of the process is about 99.9 percent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 1990
Date of Patent: April 16, 1991
    Assignee: GTE Products Corporation
Inventors: Douglas M. Jackson, John A. Arbie, Sr.
  • Patent number: 4897217
Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing alkaline earth halophosphate stir-in phosphors which comprises forming a mixture of about 55% to 75% calcium monohydrogen phosphate, about 15% to 35% calcium carbonate, about 2% to 20% ammonium chloride, about 1% to 15% manganese carbonate, about 1% to 15% antimony trioxide, and about 2% to 10% by weight calcium fluoride, wherein the average particle size of the calcium monohydrogen phosphate by Fisher subseive size is about 4.6 to 6.8 micrometers in diameter and the 50% Coulter Counter size is about 9.0 to 11.5, firing in a non-reacting atmosphere at 600.degree. C. to 1300.degree. C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 1989
Date of Patent: January 30, 1990
    Assignee: GTE Products Corporation
Inventors: Douglas M. Jackson, John A. Arbie, Sr., Richard G. W. Gingerich
  • Patent number: 4401276
Abstract: Sintered phosphor chunks are deagglomerated by feeding the chunks into a crushing machine to break them into pieces small enough to be vacuum-transported to a vacuum tank from which they drop into a controlled device which distributes the phosphor pieces into a uniform flow. The pieces are then uniformly fed into a roll crusher having an upper pair and a lower pair of rolls, which crush the phosphor into pieces small enough for use in preparing phosphor coating suspensions.
