Patent number: 11155215Abstract: The improved rack of the present invention has a basket for holding a cargo that is anticipated to be an ice chest or ice cooler, but is not limited to those items. The rack is shaped to be complimentary and attached to a bag bar of a golf cart or other cart. It is anticipated that the basket front can be shaped to fit against a number of different shapes of bag bars found in multiple styles, brands, makes, models, and years of cart. It can be attached by a strap and clamp in some embodiment, and by fasteners on others. The rack also has a bag support is attached to the rear of the basket for attaching golf bags to when the rack is installed in a cart. A bag platform is positioned below the bag support for the golf bags to rest on.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2019Date of Patent: October 26, 2021Inventor: John Brinkman

Patent number: 10567472Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for extraction and modification of Portable Document Format (PDF) file content using Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) based authoring tools on File Transfer Protocol (FTP) clients. A PDF FTP processor is configured to map components of stored PDF files to a hierarchical directory structure, and to receive FTP commands from a client application which identifies a PDF document and a type of access or operation (e.g., content or attribute modification, content extraction, etc.). The FTP commands also identify components of the PDF document upon which the requested operations are to be performed. The PDF FTP processor is further configured to invoke function calls to a PDF parser library to perform the requested operations. These techniques enable client software to access and manipulate the PDF document in a relatively simple and efficient manner, for example through HTML authoring tools that communicate to the server through FTP commands.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2016Date of Patent: February 18, 2020Assignee: Adobe Inc.Inventors: John Brinkman, Leonard Rosenthol

Patent number: 10506017Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for extraction and modification of Portable Document Format (PDF) file content using Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests. A PDF web server is configured to receive HTTP requests from a client which identify a PDF document and a type of access or operation (e.g., content or attribute modification, content extraction, etc.). The HTTP requests include Uniform Resource Locator (URL) path to identify components of the identified PDF document upon which the requested operations are to be performed. The PDF web server is further configured to invoke function calls to a PDF parser library to perform the requested operations. These techniques eliminate the need for client software to include relatively complex PDF parser libraries, instead allowing the client to access and manipulate the PDF document in a simpler and more efficient manner. In some cases, the PDF web server may be incorporated in a PDF viewer.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2016Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Assignee: Adobe Inc.Inventors: John Brinkman, Leonard Rosenthol

Patent number: 7404202Abstract: Disclosed is a security device coupled to a computing device, which is, in turn, coupled to a server through a computer network. The security device stores a serial number associated with the security device and a user key associated with the serial number. When the computing device attempts to log onto the server over the computer network, the server requests a serial number from the security device. If the serial number is stored within a user information database, the server obtains an associated user key and computes a challenge. Further, the server computes an expected response for the security device based on the associated user key. The server then sends the challenge to the security device over the computer network. If the server receives a response back from the security device that matches the expected response, the server will allow the computing device to log onto the server.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2002Date of Patent: July 22, 2008Assignee: Line 6, Inc.Inventors: Dave Hamilton, John Brinkman, John Longawa, Charles Corris Randall, Rob Rampley, Marcus Ryle

Patent number: 7081580Abstract: Disclosed is a computing device to allow for the selection and display of a multimedia presentation of an audio file to a user. An interface device couples the musical instrument to the computing device by performing A/D conversion of the musical instrument's analog audio signal to create a digitized audio signal. The computing device includes a communication device and a processor. The communication device transmits a user's request for the selection of a musical piece to a server. In turn, the communication device receives a session file associated with the musical piece from the server. The processor processes the session file such that the computing device presents a multimedia presentation of the audio file to the user. Moreover, the processor processes the digitized audio signal of the musical instrument so that the user can play the musical instrument in conjunction with the multimedia presentation of the audio file.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2004Date of Patent: July 25, 2006Assignee: Line 6, INCInventors: John Brinkman, Dave Hamilton, John Longawa, Rob Rampley, Charles Corris Randall, Marcus Ryle

Patent number: 7030311Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method to deliver a multimedia presentation of an audio file to a computing device for display to a user and further to allow the user to play a musical instrument in conjunction with the multimedia presentation. In response to a user selecting a musical piece at the computing device, a server transmits a session file associated with the musical piece to the computing device through a computer network. The session file includes an audio file and multimedia data such that the computing device can process the session file to present the multimedia presentation of the audio file to the user. An interface device is connected to the computing device and to the user's musical instrument. The interface device couples the musical instrument to the computing device such that the user can play the musical instrument in conjunction with the multimedia presentation of the audio file.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2001Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Assignee: Line 6, INCInventors: John Brinkman, Dave Hamilton, John Longawa, Rob Rampley, Charles Corris Randall, Marcus Ryle

Patent number: 7020635Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method that tracks the usage of rented digital assets. A server includes an asset database that stores a digital asset, the title of the digital asset, and a server usage count for the digital asset. The computing device stores a rented digital asset and further stores an asset usage count list that includes the title of the rented digital asset and a usage count that indicates the amount of usage of the rented digital asset by the computing device. The server uploads the asset usage count list from the computing device and matches the title of the rented digital asset from the asset usage count list with the title of the same digital asset stored in the asset database. Further, the server adds the usage count of the rented digital asset to the server usage count for the digital asset in the asset database.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2002Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Line 6, INCInventors: Dave Hamilton, John Brinkman, John Longawa, Charles Corris Randall, Rob Rampley, Marcus Ryle

Patent number: 6969797Abstract: Disclosed is an interface device to couple a musical instrument to a computing device to allow a user to play a musical instrument in conjunction with a multimedia presentation. The interface device comprises a processor, a D/A converter, and a digital audio interface. The computing device creates a processed digital audio signal of the musical instrument based upon an original digitized audio signal of the musical instrument from the interface device. The D/A converter then converts a mixed digital signal of both the processed digital audio signal of the musical instrument and a digital audio file received from the computing device into a mixed analog audio signal. The processor controls the digital audio interface such that the mixed digital signal is transmitted through the D/A converter, and ultimately through an analog sound device, to the user.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2001Date of Patent: November 29, 2005Assignee: Line 6, INCInventors: John Brinkman, Dave Hamilton, John Longawa, Rob Rampley, Charles Corris Randall, Marcus Ryle
