  • Patent number: 7839414
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and devices for color compensation of a display having a translucent display cover applied to an outside surface of the display. A method may include characterizing a color shift due to the translucent display cover for when there is rendering of an image on the display and compensating for the color shift when rendering an image on the display. The method further may include measuring the color shift induced by the color of the finish, and as described below compensating the red, green, and blue (RGB) levels of the display so that the display image may be presented to the user as originally intended. In this way, the image quality may be substantially optimized for viewing regardless of the lens/cover surface color.

  • Publication number: 20100127954
Abstract: Disclosed are display form factor devices having a first orientation and a second orientation, such a device including a display screen that is viewable from a plurality of positions. The display screen can be moved with respect to the first orientation and/or the second orientation. The display screen in accordance with a controller is configured to exhibit indicia having a particular orientation thereon, wherein the indicia having a particular orientation is dependent upon which of the at least one of a plurality of positions that is assumed by the screen body. For example, a particular orientation may be a reflective mode or a normal mode. A method of the device includes changing the particular orientation of the indicia based upon the position of the screen body. Sensed ambient conditions can provide input to determine the position of the screen body.

  • Publication number: 20080107830
Abstract: A structure and related method of providing a morphing appearance of a surface of such a structure can be implemented in relation to a wireless communication device such as a cellular telephone. In at least one embodiment, the structure is implemented in a cellular telephone and includes a first layer and a second layer positioned behind the first layer. The first layer is configured to restrict a viewing of the second layer from a first location in front of the first layer when a view path between the first location and the structure forms an angle relative to an axis extending from the structure that exceeds an angular threshold, whereby first and second images that differ from one another are respectively provided by the structure and visible at the first location depending upon whether the view path exceeds or does not exceed the angular threshold, respectively.
