Patent number: 11195779Abstract: A module. In some embodiments, the module includes a substrate; a plurality of electronic components, secured to an upper surface of the substrate; a thermally conductive heat spreader, on the electronic components and in thermal contact with an electronic component of the plurality of electronic components; a standoff, between the substrate and the heat spreader; an alignment element, extending into the substrate; a hard stop, under the substrate; and a plurality of compressible interconnects, under the substrate, and extending through the hard stop. The electronic components may be within a sight area of the substrate. The module may be configured to transmit a compressive load from an upper surface of the standoff to a lower surface of the substrate through a load path not including any of the electronic components.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Michael Benjamin Brown, Alberto F. Patent number: 9876283Abstract: An antenna is provided and includes a plate and an aperture assembly attached to the plate. The aperture assembly includes sticks that respectively include a spacer, a carrier formed separately from the spacer and on which circulators are disposed, a base defining recesses from which bosses interleaved with the recesses protrude and fasteners disposed to fasten the spacer to the base at boss locations with the carrier interposed between the spacer and the base and the circulators aligned with the recesses. The aperture assembly further includes conductive elements extending through the plate and the base for electric coupling to the circulators. Adjacent sticks define a slot extending forwardly from the plate. The slot is notched at a corresponding circulator and rounded forwardly from the corresponding circulator.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2014Date of Patent: January 23, 2018Assignee: RAYTHEON COMPANYInventors: John A. Crockett, Jr., David W. Francel, Amanda N. Berkes

Patent number: 9685707Abstract: An antenna is provided and includes a radiator aperture assembly including a plurality of radiator sticks, each radiator stick including a row of radiating elements configured to transmit and receive RF energy and a body having opposite sides, conductive elements coupled to the radiating elements and a plate disposed proximate to the radiator aperture assembly through which the conductive elements extend. Complementary opposite sides of the respective bodies of adjacent radiator sticks and a surface of the plate are configured to form a slot radiator.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2012Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: RAYTHEON COMPANYInventors: John A. Patent number: 8717243Abstract: The present invention relates to active electronically scanned array antennas. A thin, low cost design is provided by coupling electromagnetic energy into periodically driven long slots (205) using circulators with integrated probes (107). The long slots (205) are formed as grooves (114) in a conductive base plate (103), each groove (114) bracketed on both sides by conductive strips (108). The circulators with integrated probes (107) are installed between the conductive strips (108) and the base plate (103), to reduce fabrication costs of the machined parts and to facilitate the making of connections between the circulators and the antenna electronics. The probes (128) protrude partway into the slots (205) and provide coupling to waves propagating in free space.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2012Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Robert G. Yaccarino, James A. Carr, Rohn Sauer, Thomas C. DaVeiga, John A. Crockett, Jr., Steven E. Bradshaw, John M. Hadden, IV, Lonny Richard Walker
