Patent number: 9646626Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer-readable storage devices for processing audio signals. An example system configured to practice the method receives audio at a device to be transmitted to a remote speech processing system. The system analyzes one of noise conditions, need for an enhanced speech quality, and network load to yield an analysis. Based on the analysis, the system determines to bypass user-defined options for enhancing audio for speech processing. Then, based on the analysis, the system can modify an audio transmission parameter used to transmit the audio from the device to the remote speech processing system. The audio transmission parameter can be one of an amount of coding, a chosen codec, an amount of coding, or a number of audio channels, for example.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2013Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignees: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P., AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Dimitrios Dimitriadis, John Crockett, Horst Juergen Schroeter

Publication number: 20150372394Abstract: An antenna is provided and includes a plate and an aperture assembly attached to the plate. The aperture assembly includes sticks that respectively include a spacer, a carrier formed separately from the spacer and on which circulators are disposed, a base defining recesses from which bosses interleaved with the recesses protrude and fasteners disposed to fasten the spacer to the base at boss locations with the carrier interposed between the spacer and the base and the circulators aligned with the recesses. The aperture assembly further includes conductive elements extending through the plate and the base for electric coupling to the circulators. Adjacent sticks define a slot extending forwardly from the plate. The slot is notched at a corresponding circulator and rounded forwardly from the corresponding circulator.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2014Publication date: December 24, 2015Inventors: John A. Patent number: 8717243Abstract: The present invention relates to active electronically scanned array antennas. A thin, low cost design is provided by coupling electromagnetic energy into periodically driven long slots (205) using circulators with integrated probes (107). The long slots (205) are formed as grooves (114) in a conductive base plate (103), each groove (114) bracketed on both sides by conductive strips (108). The circulators with integrated probes (107) are installed between the conductive strips (108) and the base plate (103), to reduce fabrication costs of the machined parts and to facilitate the making of connections between the circulators and the antenna electronics. The probes (128) protrude partway into the slots (205) and provide coupling to waves propagating in free space.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2012Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Robert G. Patent number: 7590634Abstract: Detection and indication of inaccessible resources associated with a webpage is disclosed. Dependent resource identifiers are generated. The identifiers facilitate the query of a resource database to ascertain the status of dependent resources. The status of the dependent resources facilitates the marking of the resources in the webpage, and/or the generation of a report that indicates the status of dependent resources. An interface is provided so an author may easily ascertain the status of a dependent resource before publication of a webpage. In this manner, an author may easily and efficiently ascertain dependent resources that are subject to security right issues and/or versioning issues before publishing a webpage.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2005Date of Patent: September 15, 2009Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Sterling John Crockett, Shiu-Kai Lee, William James Griffin

Publication number: 20060089220Abstract: A mechanical anti-backdrive chain tensioner includes a four-sided planar piston and plastic chain shoe assembly. A pair of helical compression springs of opposite helices urges the piston and shoe assembly into the chain, and a ratchet plate pawl prevents backdrive of the piston but is designed with a predetermined amount of backlash. The planar-sided piston permits a large engagement area with the mating ratchet plate pawl. The large pawl contact area of the planar piston reduces tooth stress and withstands much higher anti-backdrive loads than prior art tensioners. The outer helical spring preferably has an outer diameter equal to the diameter of a bore hole in the piston and an inner diameter equal to the outer diameter of the inner spring to produce frictional damping upon extension and compression of the springs.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2005Publication date: April 27, 2006Applicant: BorgWarner Inc.Inventors: J. Haesloop, John Crockett
