Patent number: 7882702Abstract: An engine system and method for operating an internal combustion engine includes a turbocharger that generates a boost to the engine. A coolant temperature of the engine is determined along with other based engine inputs and calculated values. A normal boost based on operating conditions of the engine is determined. A supplemental boost is determined based on the coolant temperature. An offset boost based on the normal boost and the supplemental boost is determined. An air output of the turbocharger is modified based on the offset boost. The supplemental boost increases combustion efficiency, which reduces white smoke exhaust.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2004Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Inventors: Jamison C Schroeder, Jeffrey Johnson, Paul W Kelley, James S Baumgartner, Thomas L Bahensky, Scott John Fletcher, Mark L DeJong, Jose L DeLeon, Brent M Chamberlain

Publication number: 20090181777Abstract: A network-based computer game that both uses real-time financial data to affect game state and uses participants' actions to determine and engage in financial transactions. A game server receives financial data on market conditions (such as currency markets) from a financial server and regularly synchronizes user's game environments to match the financial data. The game server propagates financial data to the game or games, coordinates communication (if any) between the games, and can initiate the opening and closing of positions in the financial market based on players' game behavior. The financial market can be a currency market, where one nation's currency can be exchanged for another currency at a certain exchange rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2009Publication date: July 16, 2009Inventors: Michael Gerard Christiani, Zachary Dale Buckner, John Fletcher Elder, IV, John Anthony Dimeo

Patent number: 7472827Abstract: The present invention facilitates transactions by providing a limited use PIN that is associated with a primary account and/or PIN number, wherein the limited use PIN is presented to the merchant to initiate a transaction. More particularly, the system involves the process of registering a user (if not already pre-registered) to participate in a transaction system; generating a limited use PIN and issuing this number to the user, where the user presents this number to a merchant to complete a sales transaction; the merchant processing this limited use PIN, where the number is typically presented to the credit issuer to facilitate authorization. Additionally, the limited use PIN may also carry with it certain limitations-on-use conditions, where the transaction is not authorized unless these conditions are met. In generating a limited use PIN, the issuer generates a random number and associates this number with the user's primary charge account.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2004Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Assignee: American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc.Inventor: Christopher John Fletcher

Publication number: 20080302539Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a method and an apparatus for connecting an add-on pipe segment to a pipe string to lengthen the pipe string using friction stir welding. The pipe string is suspended in a borehole using a spider or some other pipe suspending device, and the lower end of the pipe segment is brought into an abutting or nearly abutting relationship with the proximal end of the pipe string positioned above the pipe suspending device and above the rig floor. The friction stir welding machine is brought to well center to weld the abutment or gap between the pipe segment and the pipe string and join the pipe segment to the pipe string to lengthen the pipe string. In one aspect, the method includes friction stir welding an expandable pipe segment to an expandable pipe string to form a lengthened expandable pipe string. The pipe segment may be comprised of two or more pipe segments that have been friction stir welded or conventionally welded to form a pipe stand.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2007Publication date: December 11, 2008Applicant: FRANK'S INTERNATIONAL, INC.Inventors: Pradeep Kumar Mallenahalli, Brennan Scott Domec, Charles Michael Webre, Mark Alan Veverica, John Fletcher Wheeler

Patent number: 7458947Abstract: A dynamic splint assembly for a hand includes a forearm support section configured to abut the dorsal side of a forearm and span a wrist; and a hand support section connected to the forearm support section. The hand support section is configured to abut the dorsal side of the hand including the dorsal side of the length of a finger. The hand support section comprises a resilient material that, in response to bending, such as during flexion of the finger, generates a continuous restoring force in opposition to such bending, whereby the finger in flexion is urged toward extension. The forearm support section, in contrast, does not generate, in response to bending, a continuous restoring force in opposition to such bending, whereby a wrist may be selectively oriented in one of many fixed dispositions having varying degrees of flexion and extension relative to a forearm.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2005Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: SAEBO, Inc.Inventors: John Fletcher Farrell, Henry B. Hoffman, Ian D. Kovacevich

Publication number: 20080101010Abstract: A digital storage arrangement is interfaceable with a host device which defines a cavity. The digital storage arrangement includes a housing receivable in the cavity, with a movement margin between the housing and host device, while a resilient support arrangement is provided for fixed engagement with the host device and for engaging the housing, while extending through the movement margin, to support the housing within the storage device cavity and to subject the storage device to a lesser degree of mechanical shock when the host device receives a given mechanical shock. The resilient support arrangement provides support by extending from each corner region of the housing to the host device. The support arrangement is molded through an opening defined by the housing in each corner region to extend outwardly to the host device. A bumper configuration is provided integral with the support arrangement and including a sealing arrangement.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 25, 2007Publication date: May 1, 2008Applicant: Benhov GMBH, LLCInventors: Curtis Bruner, John Fletcher, Frida Romauli Fletcher
