Patent number: 8774527Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure pertain to matching a selected image/photograph against a database of reference images having location information. The image of interest may include some location information itself, such as latitude/longitude coordinates and orientation. This location information may be based on information obtained when the user's device interacts with base stations or other access points in a wireless communication network, such as signal strength information. The location information is used as an estimated location. The image of interest and the estimated location are used to select one or more cells to match the image against. Each cell may have multiple images and an index. The image is compared against specific cells, and if a match is found, a front end server identifies the correct location and orientation of the received image, and may correct errors in the estimated location of the user device.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2012Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Dragomir Anguelov, John Flynn, Brian McClendon

Patent number: 8768107Abstract: Aspects of the invention pertain to matching a selected image/photograph against a database of reference images having location information. The image of interest may include some location information itself, such as latitude/longitude coordinates and orientation. However, the location information provided by a user's device may be inaccurate or incomplete. The image of interest is provided to a front end server, which selects one or more cells to match the image against. Each cell may have multiple images and an index. One or more cell match servers compare the image against specific cells based on information provided by the front end server. An index storage server maintains index data for the cells and provides them to the cell match servers. If a match is found, the front end server identifies the correct location and orientation of the received image, and may correct errors in an estimated location of the user device.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2013Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: John Flynn, Ulrich Buddemeier, Henrik C. Patent number: 8755820Abstract: Traffic and signaling are routed between a set of networked femto access points (APs) and location-based services are enabled. A femto AP in the set of femto APs is functionally linked to a routing platform that manages traffic and signaling, and is functionally connected to a controller component that relays at least part of data and control to a femto network platform. The femto network platform allows access to one or more external networks. Routing platform can exchange signaling with one or more femto APs to enable, at least in part, location-based services based at least in part on identifier(s) for a femto AP, access privileges, or time-of-flight measurements that assess propagation timing between a mobile device and a femto AP. Routing platform can supply timing configuration to enable predetermined spatial resolution of location estimates. Location estimates can be recorded and conveyed to a consumer layer.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2013Date of Patent: June 17, 2014Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Kurt Donald Huber, William Gordon Mansfield, Judson John Flynn

Patent number: 8738696Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided that facilitate managing routing voice and data traffic, associated with a subscription, when there are multiple devices. A client component can manage which communication device of multiple communication devices of a subscriber is active on the network at a given time for the subscriber based in part on location of a mobile device associated with the subscriber, a subscriber profile, and predefined routing criteria, which can facilitate optimal device selection. The mobile device can communicate via a macro network when outside of an area served by consumer premise equipment of the subscriber; and when the mobile device is in the area served by the consumer premise device, voice and data traffic directed to the mobile device can be automatically routed to one of multiple communication devices connected to the consumer premise equipment. The subscriber profile can specify routing preferences of the subscriber.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2009Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Judson John Flynn, Erick John Haughn, John Lewis

Patent number: 8655361Abstract: A femto cell service framework is employed for registration, activation, and provisioning of femtocell service. An account management service enables femtocell account creation, and registration thereof. Registration includes validation of wireless coverage for a location of operation of a femto AP, and validation of availability enhanced 911 (E911) service. As part of registration provisioning, record(s) are updated to indicate registration status. Connection of femto AP to a network interface triggers activation process; the femto AP delivers an activation request. A femto network validates registration of the connected femto AP and conducts a location tolerance check of a received actual location of the femto AP and a registered location. Upon tolerance validation, a cell identifier and radio frequency channel(s) are assigned to femto AP. When femto AP radiates wireless signal, network activation status indicators are provisioned. Handling of errors that arise during registration or activation is provided.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2013Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignees: AT&T Mobility II LLC, AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Robert Wayne Lott, Ravindra Babu Gurajala, Kurt Donald Huber, Judson John Flynn, William Gordon Mansfield, Jefferey Thomas Seymour, Rahul Neelakantan, Thomas Joseph Pitassi, John Potts Davis, Alfreda Downie, Stephen Leon Favor, Brian Keith Rainer, Dipak Kumar Sahoo, Victoria Collier, William Adams, Glen Zdroik, Gerald V. Publication number: 20130343457Abstract: In video coding, where differences between input picture values and picture prediction values are transformed in a block based transform, the differences are formed in a series of parallel steps. A first step conducted in parallel upon a first subset of pixels uses prediction values based wholly on previously processed blocks. This first subset can include anchor pixels which are not contiguous with any previously processed block. A second step conducted in parallel upon a second subset includes pixels which are predicted from pixels of the first subset.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2011Publication date: December 26, 2013Applicant: BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATIONInventors: Marta Mrak, Thomas Davies, David John Flynn, Andrea Gabriellini

Patent number: 8555356Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided for content management, e.g., exchange and manipulation, across devices provisioned through disparate network platforms. Devices can be mobile or stationary, and connect to provisioning network platforms through various network bearers. Through various secure protocols, a client component within a device secures access to content and provides secure delivery thereof. Directives for content manipulation are also delivered securely. Delivery of contents and directives are performed from device to device, routed via gateway nodes within a network platform that provisions the device. In addition, or alternatively, content management can be implemented through an intermediary component, which can also validate devices and secure delivery of content or directives. Alarm signaling among devices provisioned through disparate network platforms also can be securely conveyed.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2011Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Judson John Flynn, Erick John Haughn, John Lewis
