Publication number: 20160381644Abstract: Certain aspects relate to controlling a transmit power of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication network. The UE may determine a location of the UE, and identify, from set of transmit power reduction settings stored at the UE, a power reduction indicator corresponding to the location and to a frequency range of an uplink transmission. Further, the aspects include the UE transmitting a first uplink transmission in the frequency range at a first transmit power controlled based on the power reduction indicator when the power reduction indicator is found. In another aspect, the UE transmits a second uplink transmission in the frequency range at a second transmit power controlled based on a network-signaled power reduction value when the power reduction indicator corresponding to the location is not found at the UE.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2016Publication date: December 29, 2016Inventors: John FORRESTER, Sumit VERMA, Arvind SANTHANAM

Publication number: 20130346599Abstract: The embodiments disclosed herein are focussed on media interactions at mobile devices, such as tablet PCs, cellular telephones, and other handheld devices (for example iOS, Windows Mobile and Android devices). Some embodiments relate to an arrangement whereby a media item (such as video data) is streamed for playback at the mobile device. A software application executing at the mobile device monitors user interactions with the device during that media item playback (using any one or more of the available device inputs, which may include the likes of touchscreens, cameras, buttons, microphones, gyroscopes, and so on). The timing and nature of these user interactions is analysed relative to media event data defined, thereby to identify correlations. The presence/absence of such correlations may be used for a number of purposes, such as media lockout control, competitions/promotions, entertainment provision, data collection/analysis, and similar.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2013Publication date: December 26, 2013Inventors: Samuel Kell Wilson, John Forrester, Tim Smith

Publication number: 20120021707Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose methods for determining power level of one or more transmitters based on a power level of a primary transmitter when the transmitters are located in close proximity of each other. The power levels may be determined such that a combined power of all the transmitters is compliant with regulatory radio frequency (RF) safety requirements. For certain aspects, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be determined utilizing one or more look-up tables. For another aspect, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be calculated using an algorithm based on the power level of the priority transmitter. In aspects, the power level of lower priority transmitters and the time duration for which the transmitters are active may be selected dynamically so that the time averaged power of the transmitters for a defined period of time falls below the RF exposure limit.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2011Publication date: January 26, 2012Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: John A. Patent number: 4460268Abstract: A control to automatically adjust the air bleed screw on a pneumatic dashpot to alter the return speed of a scanning carriage. At the start of the carriage flyback, an end of scan position signal is generated and a second signal is generated when the carriage has reached the home position. These two signals conveyed to control logic determine the time period of the scan flyback. The time period of scan flyback is compared to an acceptable window or range of flyback time periods. If the scan flyback time period is outside the range of acceptable time periods, an adjust drive signal is conveyed to an adjust solenoid. The activation of the solenoid causes the solenoid armature to move a ratchet wheel into engagement with the pneumatic dashpot air bleed screw.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1983Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: John A.
