  • Patent number: 8408147
Abstract: A cards safe for the safe keeping of credit, debit, and switch cards, or any other small personal item used for making payments or for deposit/security purposes. A card is retained inside a box (30) which is retained by the seller. The box (30) is locked in a secure condition with two locking arms (88), which require a key (70) to unlock them. A locking bar (126) slides across the edge of the box (30) in a slot (46). The key has a protrusion (110), which stops at a correct location to bear against locking arms, which are otherwise biased to a locked state by springs. The key (70) enters the box (30) through a slot (106), and the lock releases. The box (30) can only be opened with the unique key.

  • Publication number: 20100270173
Abstract: A method for sanitization of water in a swimming pool or the like comprises the steps of forming, in the pool water, an electrolyte solution containing from 1500 ppm to 9000 ppm of a soluble magnesium halide salt, treating the electrolyte solution in an electrolytic halogenation cell to form an aqueous solution of hypohalous acid and then returning the water so treated back to a swimming pool. A mixture of magnesium and potassium chlorides with small quantities of soluble alkaline earth metal bromide is particularly effective in the sanitization process.

  • Patent number: 7532231
Abstract: A Video Conference Recorder (VCR) provided with integral input transcoders which convert received video call data into an intermediate format. Once the input transcoder has processed the data it passes it to a memory in the VCR where it is stored until a user requires it to be played back. If required the data can be converted into more than one output format using multiple input transcoders. On receiving a request to play back a recording the VCR locates the data in its memory and sends it to an output transcoder, integral to the VCR. If the stored data format is one that the endpoint can receive then the output transcoder transmits the data across the network to the endpoint. If, however, the endpoint cannot receive the stored data format then the output transcoder converts the data into a format which the endpoint can receive before onward transmission.

  • Publication number: 20070133586
Abstract: A network interface is presented that receives packet data from a shared medium and accomplishes the signal processing required to convert the data packet to host computer formatted data separately from receiving the data packet. The network interface receives the data packet, converts the analog signal to a digitized signal, and stores the resulting sample packet in a storage queue. An off-line processor, which may be the host computer itself, performs the signal processing required to interpret the sample packet. In transmission, the off-line process converts host-formatted data to a digitized version of a transmission data packet and stores that in a transmission queue. A transmitter converts the transmission data packet format and transmits the data to the shared medium.

  • Patent number: 7140151
Abstract: An electro-mechanical actuator for a window lift mechanism including a plurality of motors for driving an output shaft. The actuator may be incorporated into a window lift mechanism including a dual rack and pinion assembly, for driving the pinions along the racks. According to another aspect of the invention there is provided a variety of anti-back-drive mechanisms, e.g. clutches. A clutch according to one embodiment includes locking pawls that resist back-drive. In another embodiment, locking cams rotate relative to a carrier to resist back-drive. An actuator consistent with the invention may incorporate an impact mechanism including a flexible carrier. The carrier flexes to prevent impact forces at an output gear train from coupling to an input gear train.

  • Patent number: 5838212
Abstract: In a high frequency transmission arrangement such as that used to deliver microwave energy from a magnetron to a waveguide, a ceramic probe is covered with a non-ceramic dielectric material such as PTFE. This allows the magnetron to operate satisfactorily at low Pressures where arcing would otherwise be expected to occur.

  • Patent number: 4349657
Abstract: An improved method for preparing polyesterurethanes with p-phenylene diisocyanate is realized by (1) first reacting a polyester with a molar excess of p-phenylene diisocyanate to provide an isocyanate-terminated polyesterurethane, which is then (2) further reacted with additional amounts of polyester used to make the polyesterurethane. The first stage polymer (1) as prepared, is liquid and stable at temperatures of reaction with additional polyester, so that a continuous commercial process is possible without the stability problems faced when reacting all of the polyester and p-phenylene diisocyanate together to form the desired polyesterurethane.

  • Patent number: 4261828
Abstract: A blood detoxification apparatus comprises a housing filled with a plurality of substantially spherical reaction bodies. Each reaction body comprises an embedding material and active ingredient particles such as adsorbents and/or enzymes embedded in the embedding material which is blood compatible but nonpermeable for corpuscular blood components. The active ingredients may have a dust or powder or granular consistency but are substantially smaller in diameter than the reaction bodies which may be distributed in layers in said housing whereby the active ingredients in different layers may be different.

  • Patent number: 4071589
Abstract: In the electrostatic pinning of molten polymeric film, especially polyethylene terephthalate film, to a quenching drum, the insulators for those parts of the pinning electrode positioned outside the edges of the film are adjusted to follow the transverse fluctuations which may occur in the film edges so as to prevent sparking between the electrode and the margins of the quenching drum outside the film edges.

  • Patent number: 4065952
Abstract: A blind riveting tool of the type including a reuseable mandrel carrying a plurality of rivets to be successively set thereby. The rivets are advanced along the mandrel by causing air to flow through a sleeve to urge a leading one of the rivets beyond abutment members at the end of the tool. A catch having a finger is provided for urging the next to leading rivet and those behind it rearwardly so that the abutment members can close to embrace the mandrel behind the leading rivet without interference from the next one. The arrangement also facilitates reloading of the tool with another or the same reuseable mandrel when a new group of rivets is to be installed.

  • Patent number: 4059981
Abstract: A pull-to-set mandrel riveting tool is provided with mandrel-pulling jaws releasable from mandrel gripping relation, and a pivoted nosepiece assembly including openable rivet abutting means is thereupon movable to carry the mandrel to an out-of-the-way position wherein a rivet to be set can be loaded on the stem of the reusable mandrel. The tool is preferably operable by fluid pressure means, and a stop means is provided for insuring proper longitudinal re-positioning of the mandrel relative to mandrel pulling means. The construction facilitates manual or automatic loading of successive rivets on the mandrel.
