    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to techniques for direct data connection (DDC) for universal collection of clinical trial health data. Particularly, aspects are directed to obtaining, by an application programming interface of a DDC system, health data for a subject from a site. The DDC system determines a visit status of the subject associated with the health data. The DDC system determines a form for the subject that is to be completed for capturing the health data. The DDC system maps data elements of the health data in the site specific format to data elements of the form in an electronic data capture format and establishes instructions for translating the data elements to the electronic data capture format. The DDC system translates the data elements based on the instructions and communicates information to an electronic data capture system.

    Abstract: A method of polishing and coloring concrete surfaces using a dry concrete grinding process which includes locking in dye colors by applying the dye to the cementicious surface mid way during a series of grinding steps using sequentially finer grit, and then applying a sealer after the dye has dried and continuing the grinding process with sequentially finer polishing grits after the sealer has dried and hardened. A second coat of sealer is then applied at the end of the grinding process. In a presently preferred embodiment, the dye is applied after grinding with a grit of substantially 400 grit, the sealer is applied after the dye is dry and grinding is continued up to about 3000 grit after the first coat of sealer dries. Lastly, a second coat of sealer is applied.

    Abstract: The automated method of the present invention provides an efficient arrangement for setting certain financial transactions using a debit point of sale transaction network, as opposed to routing over a credit network. The method and arrangement uses an onsite database of bank identification numbers to conduct a preliminary assessment of whether a particular card is debit capable, and appropriately processes the transaction information based on the preliminary assessment. The system preferably is also updated when a financial transaction is successfully completed as a debit transaction which the database did not initially identify as being debit capable. In this way, the database is continuously updated and over time, a more accurate database is achieved. The system can also be networked, such that information between databases is shard and improved, based on the network experience.

    Abstract: A dry method of concrete floor or concrete surface restoration uses the process of grinding a concrete surface to be resurfaced while extracting and retaining dust during the grinding process. The grinding process is repeated each time using finer grinding grit until a preselected degree of smoothness of the concrete surface is achieved. A sealer is applied to the concrete surface which has been ground to the predetermined degree of smoothness. In a preferred embodiment, two coats of sealer are applied and the sealer is preferably a water-based, odorless, penetrating alkaline siliconate solution. The method of the present invention limits down time to aisles and main areas during the restoration process, as well as limiting the dust and odor during the process to provide a lustrous smooth surface on the concrete.

    Abstract: A reusable oil filter assembly adapted for use in filtering the lubricating oil of an engine configured to receive an oil filter, including a filter housing having an open end and a closed end, a filter mount disposed between the filter housing and the engine for receiving the unfiltered oil from the engine and returning filtered oil to the engine. The filter mount includes a first plate, a second plate, and an anti-drain back seal disposed between the first plate and the second plate. The anti-drain back seal prevents both the oil disposed in the engine from flowing out into the filter assembly and the oil disposed in the filter assembly from flowing into the engine when the engine is turned off. The first plate, the second plate and the anti-drain back seal arefittingly, rather than integrally, mated together, thus facilitating service, repair and replacement of the assembly.

Each smaller rectangle is divided by the same number of rows and columns into a second series of smaller rectangles circumscribing a subsection of the previous section and each is assigned a different whole number representing its relative location, and each is identified by the prefix and the whole number assigned to the previous section followed by the whole number assigned to the subsection.

    Abstract: A camera supporting tripod is described with a hip to which legs are attached. The legs are adjustable as to length. In addition, the tripod includes a center shaft mounted to the hip for tilting movement. The center shaft is also adjustable as to length. Manually actuated hydraulic mechanisms are provided for releasably holding the legs as to length, for releasably locking the center shaft to the hip to prevent relative tilting, and for releasably holding the shaft at the length to which it is adjusted. An instrument supporting head on the tripod includes friction brake panning and tilting mechanisms designed to apply a variable drag to these motions and also for smooth operation.

    Abstract: A paint brush having a ferrule telescopically receiving a handle at one end and the bristles at the other is disclosed with supporting and prying means on one side thereof for adapting the brush to hang from the rim of a paint can, in spaced relation from the walls of the can, and to pry off the lid of the can. The supporting and prying device includes a prying portion which projects outwardly of the ferrule and a hook portion located between the prying portion and the end of the ferrule that receives the handle. An adapter member for adapting a conventional paint brush to hang from the rim of a paint can and to adapt the brush to provide a tool for prying open the can is also disclosed as including a base portion, a prying portion and a hook portion. The base portion is mountable to one side of the ferrule whereby the prying portion and the hook portion project outwardly from the base portion and the ferrule.
