  • Publication number: 20140183256
Abstract: A system for tracking one or more subjects for collecting airborne contaminants. The system includes one or more subjects configured to collect air contaminants. Each of the one or more subjects includes an identification tag encoded with identification information identifying the each subject. The system further includes an identification reader configured to decode the identification information encoded within the identification tag of a scanned one of the one or more identification tags. A computer receives and stores the decoded identification information in a record in a database. The computer may also receive and stored an identification code for a user who scanned the scanned identification tag in the record in the database. Additional records in the database are created each time the identification tag of one of the one or more subjects is scanned. The one or more subjects are thereby tracked as they collect airborne contaminants and are incubated.

  • Publication number: 20080079311
Abstract: The present invention provides a regenerative system and method for determining the occurrence of a braking imbalance between at least two wheels. In the event of a braking imbalance a vehicle controller generates signals that cause a reduction in the regenerative braking force and a corresponding increase in friction braking force being applied to the vehicle wheels.

Abstract: A control system for controlling a safety system of an automotive vehicle having a transmission and a differential. The system includes left and right wheel speed sensors associated with respective vehicle wheels and generating left and right wheel speed signals, and a transmission output shaft speed sensor generating a transmission output shaft speed signal. A controller is coupled to the wheel speed sensors and the transmission output speed sensor, and determines a reference wheel speed for one of the left or right wheels as a function of the other of the left or right wheel speed signal and the transmission output shaft speed signal. The controller controls the safety system in response to the determined reference wheel speed.

  • Publication number: 20070112773
Abstract: A method is provided for assuring that only the correct version of a software update is permitted to be installed in a computer controlled module, such as a vehicle controller. Each version of the software is embedded with a unique identifier, and each software update has an embedded list of the identifiers of the software versions which it is authorized to update or replace. A flashloader is used to determine if the identifier of the software in the controller is present in the list embedded in a proposed update, and installs the update if a match is found. Checksums and encryption of the identifiers can be used to enhance reprogramming integrity.

  • Patent number: 7216175
Abstract: A system for determining subscriber information includes an access server coupled to a number of subscribers using a communication network, a memory coupled to the access server, and a processor coupled to the memory. The access server receives a communication from a particular subscriber using a particular one of a number of virtual circuits associated with the communication network. The memory stores subscriber information for the subscribers, wherein the subscriber information is indexed by path information that identifies a virtual circuit assigned to the particular subscriber. The processor determines subscriber information for communication to the particular subscriber based upon the path information and the particular virtual circuit used to receive communication from the particular subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7083659
Abstract: The combined light source and air purifier unit includes a body (11) and a centrifugal fan (12) with rearwardly facing blades (20) run at low speed and mounted by the body with its axis upright and a central intake (17) through which air containing contaminants is drawn from a target zone (80) below the unit. A light source (14) mounted within a peripheral projecting skirt (75) is located radially outside the intake (17) of the centrifugal fan (12) so as not to obstruct the flow of intake air. A filter (13) extends circumferentially around the fan (12) and an air discharge (60) includes a smoothly curved flow deflecting means (62) provided by the body (11) to deflect air flowing outwardly from the fan in an upwards direction at about 45° or less to the vertical.

  • Patent number: 6769043
Abstract: To ensure fair access to upstream trunk bandwidth among a plurality of interface units, a plurality of queues is provided in a first unit. One of the queues is associated with the first interface unit. Each of the remaining queues is associated with one of a plurality of second interface units. Local data is received by the first interface unit and forwarded to the associated queue. Data received from a second, subtended interface unit is forwarded to a queue which associated with the second interface unit. Data is then issued from the queues according to a fairness algorithm. A unique identifier is assigned to each interface unit. Associating a queue with an interface unit is done by associating the queue with the respective interface unit's identifier. In each interface unit, local data is tagged with the instant interface unit's identifier, and received data is forwarded to a queue according to the data's tag.
