  • Publication number: 20020054024
Abstract: A computer user interface device is provided, made up of modules having separate sets of user interface features. For instance, a keyboard device has a first module bearing standard alphanumeric and control keys, and a second module, selected from a set of optional modules bearing specialized features such as multimedia controls, communication interfaces, or magnetic media readers. The modules are mechanically coupled together. An electrical interface allows user input signals, such as keystroke signals, to be consolidated on one module, preferably the specialized module, into a single signal stream, for coupling to the computer.

  • Patent number: 6317334
Abstract: The present invention provides a modular data storage system that allows a user to arrange various data storage module configurations within a single system enclosure. More specifically, the inventive system provides a program key and a connection extender having a configuration knob. Once the appropriate connection extender is coupled to a data storage module, the program key of the system enclosure will only accept a certain connection extender configuration into a bay slot. If data storage module connection is successful, the extender will create a thermal breezeway between the data storage drive and a receptive circuit board connector to reduce the operating temperature of the connected data storage module.

  • Patent number: 5646687
Abstract: A temporally-pipelined predictive encoder/decoder circuit for encoding or decoding an input signal containing a sequence of data frames received at a particular frame rate and frame data rate into an output signal having an equal frame rate employs a plurality of N predictive encoders/decoders. An input buffer may be used to extract the information for each data frame in the input signal and supply such information to a corresponding one of the encoders/decoders at rate of 1/N of the particular frame data rate. Each encoder/decoder generates corresponding encoded/decoded information as it is received as well as provides digitized frame information to the encoder/decoder processing the next received image frame. The encoded/decoded information is provided to corresponding frame buffers which temporarily store such information.

  • Patent number: 5644123
Abstract: A means and method of controlling a plurality of energy beams with at least one of the plurality of beams. At least one first beam set produces special interference with at least one second beam set, at a first location(s), diverting energy from both beam sets to a second location(s), where energy does not appear from one . . . or either, of the inputs in the absence of interference. By selecting the timing, levels, phases, frequencies, and interconnection of multiple controllers, a multitude of useful energy beam circuits are able to be made . . . such as: gated amplifiers, cascaded amplifiers, gated oscillators, phase demodulators, active filters, inverters, inverted filters, limiters, threshold detectors . . .
