Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved blast cleaning apparatus for cleaning coiled wire with abrasive cleaning material. A prior art apparatus for blast cleaning wires comprises an elongated boom provided with annular splitters for longitudinal separation of wire coils and metal lifters for radial separation of wire coils to expose substantially all of the surface of the wires to the abrasive cleaning material. Due to the hardness of the lifters, some abrasive cleaning material becomes embedded in the wire and causes problems with subsequent processing steps. The present invention provides a blast cleaning apparatus having resilient lifters which overcome this and other difficulties. Preferably, the lifters according to the present invention are made of polyurethane and are used in combination with a conventional boom with or without splitters.

Abstract: An enclosed hanger bearing suitable for use under severe operating conditions is disclosed. The bearing is completely sealed to prevent the entry of abrasive materials. The bearing has an adaptor plate for engaging augers which are supported by the bearing from an overhead support. A combination of felt and magnetic strip seals are employed to prevent entry of abrasive into the bearing which is permanently lubricated.

Abstract: A finger seal is disclosed for use in conjunction with shot blasting operations. The seal is formed of polyurethane or similar materials which are resistant to wear from shot blasting. The seals are provided with a plurality of longitudinal reinforcing ribs to increase their strength and effectiveness in preventing the escape of shot from an enclosure.
