  • Patent number: 11377749
Abstract: A method includes immersing a wafer in an electrolyte including a plurality of compounds having elements of a high damping magnetic alloy with very low impurity and small uniform grain size. The method also includes applying a pulsed current with a certain range of duty cycle and pulse length to the wafer when the wafer is immersed in an electrolyte. The wafer is removed from the electrolyte when a layer of the high damping magnetic alloy is formed on the wafer.

  • Patent number: 6407339
Abstract: A high temperature electrical insulation is described, which is suitable for electrical windings for any number of applications. The inventive insulation comprises a cured preceramic polymer resin, which is preferably a polysiloxane resin. A method for insulating electrical windings, which are intended for use in high temperature environments, such as superconductors and the like, advantageously comprises the steps of, first, applying a preceramic polymer layer to a conductor core, to function as an insulation layer, and second, curing the preceramic polymer layer. The conductor core preferably comprises a metallic wire, which may be wound into a coil. In the preferred method, the applying step comprises a step of wrapping the conductor core with a sleeve or tape of glass or ceramic fabric which has been impregnated by a preceramic polymer resin.

  • Publication number: 20020057531
Abstract: A method is used for aligning a slider on a gimbal. The gimbal includes a slider opposing face with a flex circuit material on the slider opposing face and a flex on suspension (FOS) bond pad is disposed on the flex circuit material. The slider has a gimbal opposing face and a disc opposing face. Both faces are bounded by a leading edge and a trailing edge. The slider has a forward face along the trailing edge extending between the gimbal opposing face and the disc opposing face. An extended bond pad is formed on the forward face of the slider. A notch is formed on the slider in the forward face adjacent the gimbal opposing face. The slider is placed on the flex circuit material such that the extended bond pad is positioned relative to the FOS bond pad to improve bond strength and static attitude.

  • Patent number: 5995336
Abstract: A surface smooth enough to allow the formation thereon of a single domain magnetic element is obtained by covering a polished layer with a thin layer of the same material, to smooth sharp edges and corners. The resulting structure is useful in thin film magnetic heads.

  • Patent number: 5133920
Abstract: A family of composite materials consisting of a mineral filler and a synthetic polymer are provided which are characterized by properties similar to natural ivory. The ivory-like composite material contains about 25 to about 75 percent by weight of the mineral filler, preferably a calcium phosphate. In addition, the composite material contains about 75 to about 25 percent by weight of the polyamino acid, preferably an .alpha.-amino acid such as poly(gamma-methyl L-glutamate). The composite material is formed using in situ polymerization techniques, thereby ensuring intimate and homogeneous blending of the mineral and polymer phases as well as facile preparation at ambient temperatures. In addition, the ivory-like composite material is molded using an isostatic compression molding technique. The composite material may be molded to form virtually any desired shape for decorative or practical purposes, or for subsequent carving.
