  • Publication number: 20230223781
Abstract: A power system and method for the adaptive power control of a drilling rig. While operating the internal combustion engine in its efficient operating range, unrequired mechanical power is converted to electrical power for storage, or use via the electrical bus on the rig. When the internal combustion engine is not required to provide mechanical or electrical power it is deactivated, and then reactivated—electrical storage on the system in the meantime providing electrical power to the bus as required. The power supply and management system could be retroactively fitted to an existing drilling rig by the incorporation of a generator and electrical storage device thereon. The system and method of the present invention allow for the optimized use of combustion-based power on a drilling rig while minimizing environmental emissions from the idle running of the at least one internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 8590531
Abstract: A manifold for a medicament dispenser, where a manifold body defines a chimney with an inlet and an exit for directing airflow from the inlet to the exit, and a chamber with a chamber inlet and chamber exit. The chimney exit and the chamber inlet lie side-by-side each other such that when the open blister pocket of the blister pack is positioned adjacent thereto, the airflow may be directed from the chimney exit to the chamber inlet via the open blister pocket to entrain the medicament powder, enabling transport of powder in the airflow from chamber inlet to chamber outlet. The chimney creates turbulence in the airflow at the open blister pocket. The manifold comprises plural chimney exits, located at an angle relative to each other of from 150° to 30° such that, in use, plural airflow jets are directed at different and conflicting angles towards the open blister pocket.

  • Publication number: 20100037894
Abstract: There is provided a manifold for use in a medicament dispenser device for the delivery of medicament powder from an open blister pocket of a blister pack. The manifold comprises a body, the body defining a chimney having a chimney inlet and a chimney exit for directing airflow from the chimney inlet to the chimney exit; the body further defining a chamber having a chamber inlet and a chamber exit. The chimney exit and said chamber inlet lie side-by-side each other such that when said open blister pocket of said blister pack is positioned adjacent thereto said airflow may be directed from the chimney exit to the chamber inlet via the open blister pocket to entrain said medicament powder and enable transport thereof in the airflow from the chamber inlet to said chamber outlet. The chimney is arranged to create turbulence in the airflow at the open blister pocket.

  • Publication number: 20050229345
Abstract: Attractiveness of consumer products is enhanced by use of scintillating fluorescent light collecting fibers contained in those products. The fibers collect ambient light of various wavelengths, some not visible, along their length which is collected within the fiber and emitted as visible light at the ends of the fibers. The emitted light can be used to enhance the consumer appeal of the product or promote its use. Specific consumer products disclosed include toothbrushes and liquid soap dispensers.

  • Patent number: 4699108
Abstract: A fuel injection pumping apparatus of the rotary distributor type includes a rotary distributor member which is biased axially in one direction by a spring and is movable in the opposite direction by fluid pressure in a chamber. The axial setting of the distributor member determines the amount of fuel delivered by the apparatus. Fuel is supplied to the chamber through a supply path including a port and a groove which register intermittently as the distributor member rotates. Fuel is allowed to drain from the chamber through a drain path which includes a further port and a tapered groove defined by the distributor member and an axially adjustable sleeve surrounding the distributor member. The further port and the tapered groove register intermittently and it is arranged that the supply path and the drain path are closed to create a hydraulic lock in the chamber during the time mechanical forces are applied to the distributor member.

  • Patent number: 4390188
Abstract: In a high pressure hydraulic system wherein a source supplies pressurized fluid to a slave unit through a control valve operative to maintain the slave unit in a desired condition, leakage from the slave unit past the control valve when the source is inoperative is prevented by a control valve comprising two solenoid-operated valves, oppositely acting and arranged in series between the source and the slave unit, each valve being closed to prevent flow through the valve in a direction towards the other valve and opened to permit flow in both directions, under the control of a solenoid and the pressure differential acting across the valve. A seating portion on the valve located between the other valve and the slave unit is of elastomeric material to provide a leakproof seal when that valve is closed.
