Patent number: 7530488Abstract: A mailer intermediate includes a generally rectangular sheet of printable, postcard stock having first and second side edges, first and second end edges, and first and second faces. A fold line extends substantially transverse to the side edges and substantially bisects them, whereby the sheet is divided by the fold line into first and second postcard portions. An adhesive pattern is provided on the first face of the sheet, adjacent at least one of the first and second end edges, for securing the first and second postcard portions together adjacent the first and second end edges. Adhesive patterns on the first face of the sheet adjacent the first and second side edges are provided only near the fold line, whereby the first face of the first and second postcard portions are not adhered together along a substantial majority of the extent of the first and second side edges of the first and second postcard portions. The fold line may be defined by a line of weakness, such as for example a perforation line.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2005Date of Patent: May 12, 2009Assignee: The Standard Register CompanyInventors: John Salerno, Carey Daniel

Publication number: 20060228786Abstract: The present invention relates to improved methods of introducing site-directed mutations into circular DNA without the need for subcloning. The invention comprises single-stage, polymerase-based, mutagenesis procedures which eliminate the need for the second-stage linear cyclic amplification reaction of the prior art. In accordance with the invention, production of complimentary mutagenized DNA strands is accomplished in separate, single-primer, linear amplification reactions carried out for each primer of a mutagenic primer pair. The mutagenized DNA strands produced in the separate primer reactions are combined and annealed and the resulting double-stranded mutagenized DNA intermediate may then be used directly to transform a host cell for further production of the desired mutant DNA. Major applications of this method include directed evolution and other areas that benefit from the development of diversity.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2004Publication date: October 12, 2006Inventor: John Salerno

Patent number: 5046743Abstract: A strategy-type soccer board game has a plurality of movable playing pieces and a separate soccer ball, all of which may be moved independently of each other or in concert as determined by rolls of the dice. The game is played by two players, each of whom is given nine playing pieces. Each of the playing pieces has a post at its base onto which a ball having a matching slot may be placed when a particular playing piece is carrying or passing the ball. The game board consists of a rectangular playing field with a grid of squares, each square representing one possible move. Surrounding the field are the out-of-bounds areas. At opposing ends of the field are goal lines, a goal net which must be entered to score a goal and a goalie box. In the center of the field is a kick-off circle and a kick-off square from which the team kicking off initiates play. A table of numbers is located on each player's side of the board, indicating the direction of movement possible depending on the numbers rolled on the dice.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1990Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Inventor: John Salerno
