  • Patent number: 10663074
Abstract: A device and method enable both an automated and a user controlled diversion of fluid flow from a first pathway to an alternate pathway. The automated method relies upon detection of an environmental quality, such as fluid temperature, fluid heat content, fluid viscosity, fluid chemical composition, flow rate, or other detectable parameter. Both the automated diversion and the user controlled diversion rely upon positioning of the piston relative to the two pathways. The piston defines an internal pathway and the position of the piston internal pathway determines whether fluid flows through the first pathway or the alternate pathway. A lever movably couples the piston to an actuator; in the automated method an actuator responsive to its environment moves the lever to reposition the piston. In the user controlled method an override is applied, preferably manually, to reposition the piston to cause the diversion from the first pathway to the alternate pathway.

  • Publication number: 20200131706
Abstract: The invention provides calendered tissue webs and products produced by passing a tissue web through a calender nip created by a patterned roll having a first pattern and a second pattern thereon and a substantially smooth roll. As the web is transported through the nip it is subjected to variable calender loads that impart variable cross-machine (CD) direction properties to the resulting calendered web. CD properties that may be varied according to the present invention include sheet caliper, sheet bulk and surface smoothness. The variable CD property may be preserved in the web as it is further converted, such as winding about a core, resulting in tissue products having physical properties that vary along at least one dimension of the product.

  • Patent number: 9386859
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating sleep is disclosed. Embodiments of the sleep system receive a person's lower arm in an arm cavity of a person laying in a sleep-on-side position. An exemplary sleep system has a trunk rest and head rest. Two separated cantilevered supports extending outwardly from the base portion of the head rest are in contact with and supported by a top edge of the trunk rest, thereby defining an arm aperture that receives the person's lower arm when laying in a sleep-on-side position. An arm cavity is defined by lower surfaces of the two cantilevered supports and a trunk rest cantilevered arm cavity surface that extends generally downward and inward.
