Patent number: 11119724Abstract: A standalone DJ console includes onboard audio data, user interface, processing engine and mixing module that enable multiple virtual audio players operating under the control of the processor to be mixed by virtual mixing processes into two different audio signal streams routable to different outputs of the console to provide two different audio streams to two separate spaces. The user interface is designed with a virtual display and parallel sets of controls which enable virtual representations of audio waveforms to be scrolled relative to an axis of time above the respective set of controllers used to manipulate the audio signal stream.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2019Date of Patent: September 14, 2021Assignee: INMUSIC BRANDS, INC.Inventors: John O'Donnell, John Souppa, Ross Hartley Goodwin, Christopher Blane Roman, Jason William Stout

Patent number: 8697973Abstract: A music touch control system for an audio performance product is disclosed. The system includes a touch control surface configured and arranged to set and cause activation for playing a tone in an audio performance product; and a visual indicator connected to the touch control surface representing semitones of the tone. The visual indicator has a neutral tone point with +12 semitones above the neutral tone point and ?12 semitones below the neutral point. Touching the control surface along the length thereof causes the audio performance product to play the semitone corresponding to the portion of the touch control surface touched and the visual indicator to indicate the semitone of the selected semitone. The system can be used to represent the playing time of a song and permit navigation instantly to a point in the song.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2011Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: inMusic Brands, Inc.Inventors: John A. Souppa, Glen Darcey

Patent number: 8598444Abstract: A controller for a tablet computing device is disclosed. The controller has a body having a number of control surfaces. A dock is on the body and has an L-shaped groove configured and arranged to receive a tablet computing device docked therein. A microcontroller is configured and arranged to detect interactions with the control surfaces and transmit the interactions to the tablet computing device. An analog output is configured and arranged to receive audio signals from the tablet computing device whereby interactions from the control surfaces are processed by the tablet computing device into audio signals for transmission through the audio output.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2011Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignee: inMusic Brands, Inc.Inventors: Daniel R. Morrissey, John A. Souppa

Publication number: 20130123961Abstract: A disc jockey controller for a handheld computing device is disclosed. The controller includes a body with a top surface. A cradle is configured and arranged to hold a handheld computing device in a desired orientation. A main output configured and arranged to be electrically connected to a handheld computing device. A left platter control and a right platter control are provided on the top surface of the body. The platters are rotatable and pressable to generate control data for the handheld computing device. A DJ application running on a handheld computing device is configured and arranged to use a communication protocol to receive control data from the controller. The DJ application is further configured and arranged to use the control data to apply special effects and to manipulate the first audio source and second audio source.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2011Publication date: May 16, 2013Applicant: NUMARK INDUSTRIES, LPInventors: Christopher Roman, John A. Souppa
