  • Patent number: 5297249
Abstract: A set of hypermedia linking services enable client applications to incorporate hypermedia capabilities in an open system architecture. The users are provided with a consistent hypermedia interface completely managed by the hypermedia services and not by the client application itself. The graphical user interface includes methods for menu handling, dialog box presentation and pointing device message handling, e.g., mouse message handling. Normal hypermedia activities such as object management, object creation, object deletion and object modification is provided. In addition, an open system searching mechanism is provided to satisfy broad non-context requests for information by the user without sacrificing the advantages of an open hypermedia environment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1990
Date of Patent: March 22, 1994
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation
Inventors: Keith Bernstein, John A. Stephens

  • Patent number: 4558929
Abstract: A non-foggable mirror assembly for use in a shower comprises a mirror mounted on a unitary frame. The frame is recessed to provide a space between the back surface of the mirror and the frame. This space serves as a chamber for hot water, which is fed through a port at the bottom of the chamber, and which exits through a continuously open port at the top of the chamber. The bottom port is connected to an adapter for connection to a water pipe leading to a shower head for tapping off heated water. The heated water passes upwardly through the chamber continuously, heating the mirror, and preventing condensation.

Inventors: John A. Stephens, Martin Stephens
  • Patent number: 4089920
Abstract: A high-strength, light-weight, fired clay body which is characterized by relatively greater surface oxidation than interior oxidation with accompanying surface layer shrinkage. The clay body is quick-dried and quick-fired to substantially uniformly oxidize the surface layer to maturity while maintaining the interior of the body in a relatively unoxidized and unfired condition.

  • Patent number: 4073479
Abstract: The process of sulfidizing an acid copper leach pulp prior to flotation recovery of the copper therein comprising adding to and admixing with said pulp in a reaction zone an ionizable sulfide material, said sulfide material being added in an amount proportional to the amount of copper passing through said zone so that the sulfidization reaction is completed within about 30 seconds and the pulp leaving said zone has an aqueous copper concentration of from about 0.014 to 0.024 gram per liter and a reactor for such process comprising elongated tubular means, shaft means mounted in said tubular means, and a plurality of blade members attached to said shaft, said blade members being spaced along said shaft at approximately 30.degree. pitch angles relative to the axial direction of the shaft and there being a reverse pitch direction of certain of said blades at predetermined distances along the length of said shaft.

  • Patent number: 4062508
Abstract: A helicopter rotor control mechanism is provided in which cyclic and collive rotor control functions are performed by a single integrated control having three degrees of freedom and operable by either or both hands of the pilot as desired. The integrated control comprises a floor mounted control column rotatable about a fore and aft collective pitch control axis and a pair of hand grips mounted for rotation about two independent cyclic control axes (by one or both hands of the operator) in a control head assembly mounted on the upper end of the floor mounted control column. The floor column and control head effect displacement of collective pitch, cyclic pitch and cyclic roll output rods for ultimate control of the helicopter rotor.
