  • Patent number: 7983474
Abstract: A geospatial modeling system may include at least one geospatial information database to store stereo-geographic image data and geographic feature data. A processor may cooperate with the geospatial information database for generating cost coefficients defining a three-dimensional (3D) cost cube using image matching operators based upon the stereo-geographic image data, adjusting the cost coefficients of the 3D cost cube based upon the geographic feature data to generate an adjusted 3D cost cube, and generating a geospatial model based upon solving the adjusted 3D cost cube, e.g. for a best cost surface. The system and method provide an integrated approach to creating a geospatial model using available data from multiple sources.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 19, 2011
    Assignee: Harris Corporation
Inventors: John A. Van Workum, David M. Bell, Eric Spellman, Adrian Peter

  • Patent number: 7310606
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating an image-textured digital surface model (DSM) for a geographical area of interest including both buildings and terrain may include using a computer to generate a digital elevation model (DEM) of both the buildings and terrain for the geographical area of interest. The method may further include providing a collection of optical images including oblique optical images for the geographical area of interest including both buildings and terrain. The computer may also be used to selectively superimpose oblique optical images from the collection of optical images onto the DEM of both the buildings and terrain for the geographical area of interest and to thereby generate the image-textured DSM for the geographical area of interest including both buildings and terrain.

  • Patent number: 4190814
Abstract: A single axis resonator for use within a laser having an annular gain region. The single axis resonator extracts optical power from the annular gain region by the use of a beam expander, reflaxicon, corner cube and output coupler, wherein the optical axis of the resonator passes through the center of the output coupler. The reflaxicon transforms a substantially elliptically-shaped beam into a crescent-shaped beam which closely resembles the shape of a section of the annular gain region. The crescent-shaped beam is reflected through the gain region several times to build up energy before being translated back into its original shape for reflection out of the laser by the output coupler.
