  • Patent number: 8791393
Abstract: A heating control system for controlling heating of a fluid within an associated fluid vessel includes a first sensor responsive to a low fluid level in the fluid vessel and a second sensor responsive to a temperature of the fluid within the fluid vessel. The heating control system also includes a control circuit electrically connected with the first sensor and the second sensor to control electrical power to a heating unit for heating the fluid within the fluid vessel. The control circuit allows electrical power to be connected to the heating unit upon a first predetermined condition of the first sensor and a first predetermined condition of the second sensor. The control circuit disconnects power to the heating unit upon either a second predetermined condition of the first sensor or a second predetermined condition of the second sensor.

  • Patent number: 8119953
Abstract: A heating control system for controlling heating of a fluid contained in a fluid vessel using a fluid level sensor as a heating control element. The system includes a control circuit coupled with an electrical power system of a heating unit. The control circuit includes switching elements that are selectively activated or deactivated responsive to a low fluid level in a corresponding fluid vessel such that heating of the fluid is terminated as the level of fluid becomes less than a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20070185902
Abstract: A data storage device includes storage media with multiple media zone attributes of storage performance. The storage device includes a data channel that is connectable to a host system. The data channel receives an object from the host system that has a requested storage attribute attached to the object. The storage device comprises an object-based storage interface that couples between the data channel and the storage media. The object-based storage interface schedules the object for storage in a selected zone of the multiple media zones based on the attributes and requested attributes.

  • Patent number: 6127046
Abstract: An intermetallic bond between a ferrous metal and a non-ferrous metal wherein an intermetallic bond layer that is substantially free of graphic inclusions joins the two. The graphite is effectively eliminated from the bond layer by either removing it from the ferrous metal or by sealing it off from the bond layer. Graphite removal may be accomplished in a variety of ways, including electrochemical cleaning and laser surface treatment. Alternatively, the graphite may be prevented from incursing into the bond region by sealing it off with a layer of metal, such as a chromium plating, that prevents it from penetrating through the bond layer and into the non-ferrous metal.

  • Patent number: 4063677
Abstract: A method of welding together two members placed with the edge surfaces to be joined in mutually facing relationship and separated by a weld gap. A weld material is endothermically heated to a molten state and flowed through the weld gap for heating the members to cause melting of the edge surfaces with the weld metal flow being continued for a time sufficient to provide a ratio of weld gap metal to total metal flowed of at least 1:50, and then the flow is terminated to provide for weld solidification.

  • Patent number: 3974955
Abstract: A method and apparatus for welding together two members such as relatively thick metallic plates. The plates are positioned vertically in the same plane and are spaced apart by a gap which is equal to the desired width of the seam or joint. A moving current of molten metal is caused to flow horizontally through the gap, starting at the bottom of the gap, until the plates are heated to a welding temperature, and then the flow is ceased to allow for weld solidification. For welding plates when the length of the weld is greater than the depth of the molten metal stream, the plates are moved downwardly simultaneously while continuing the flow of molten metal through the gap. The plates are moved at a rate which will allow for solidification of the weld metal until the gap is filled.
