  • Patent number: 8552719
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing soluble and insoluble contaminants from highly purified and ultra-pure liquids having a bulk resistivity in excess of one megohm-centimeter by establishing laminar flow of the liquid in a cylindrical chamber through an electromagnetic field transverse to the direction of flow, to induce mobility of the constituents. The wall of the chamber forms a cathode and a central rod forms an anode in the chamber. The mobilized constituents are transported either to the anode or the cathode, where the material will adhere and agglomerate with other constituents. Systems are provided utilizing the method and apparatus for purifying and analytically evaluating highly purified and ultra-pure water.

  • Patent number: 7141286
Abstract: The present invention relates to pre-filled tamper evident syringe assemblies, including a tubular syringe body with a nose portion for receiving a hollow needle communicating with the interior of the syringe body, a needle cap for protecting at least the nose portion and a label bonded to an outer surface of the syringe body. The tamper evident feature of such an assembly is provided by a simple construction. Therefore, at least a portion of the needle cap adjacent to the syringe body is of essentially the same diameter as the syringe body, and the label of the syringe body extends onto the needle cap and is bonded and/or positively engaged thereto, so as to produce evidence of tampering when the needle cap is removed.

  • Publication number: 20050083167
Abstract: A fuse that includes an arc energy reducing coating to reduce arc energy during a short-circuit and/or a full voltage overload current interrupt is described. The fuse includes end conductor elements, and at least one fuse element secured between and making electrical contact with the end conductor elements. An elongate fuse housing, having a passageway extending longitudinally through the housing, extends between the end conductor elements. The fuse element extends through the housing passageway. An arc energy reducing coating at least partially coats each end portion of the fuse element.

  • Publication number: 20050039459
Abstract: A high temperature splash plate for use in the combustor of a gas turbine engine that also is a specular optical reflector. A thin layer of a high temperature reflector is applied to the surface of the splash plate of the component that forms a boundary for hot combustion gases. The component typically includes a thermal barrier coating overlying the high temperature metallic component that permits the component to operate at elevated temperatures. The thermal barrier coating must be polished in order to provide a surface that can suitably reflect the radiation into the gas flow path. A thin layer of the high temperature reflector then is applied over the polished thermal barrier coating by a process that can adequately adhere the reflector to the polished surface without increasing the roughness of the surface. The surface reflects radiation in the direction of the turbine back into the hot gas flow path. The reflected radiation is not focused onto any other hardware component.
