  • Publication number: 20170115422
Abstract: A method for estimating formation slowness is provided. The method comprises forward modeling to compute formation slownesses based on a first method for orthorhombic media using stress magnitudes and third-order elastic constants as inputs, and forward modeling to determine formation slownesses analytically based on a second method using stress magnitudes, stress azimuth and third-order elastic constants as inputs. The first method may be based on Tsvankin method and the second method may be based on Christoffel method. The forward modeling may further use well configuration and reference moduli as inputs, and the results from the forward modeling may include formation slownesses, and at least one of vertical slownesses, anisotropic parameters, anellipticity indicators and fast shear azimuth. The method may further comprise assessing quality of the forward modeling based on results output from the forward modeling.

  • Publication number: 20170046549
Abstract: Methods pertaining to encoding and decoding binary identifiers within a cell array are described. A binary identifier received by computing device can be encoded according to an encoding scheme. The cell array can include multiple encoded cells (10), each of which indicates a predetermined sequence of two or more bits, and which includes a perimeter (12), and both an alignment mark (14) and a line pattern (17) within the perimeter (12). The line pattern (17) can be one of an empty-cell line pattern, a pattern including one or more asymmetrical radial vectors, one or more diametrical vectors, a symmetric cross, or a symmetrical star, or some other line pattern. The encoding scheme can define a plurality of cell colours that correspond to a predetermined sequence of two or more bits. The bits corresponding to a cell colour can be redundant to bits corresponding to a line pattern for confirming accuracy of decoding a cell (10).

  • Publication number: 20170023691
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and program product model stress characteristics of a subsurface formation based at least in part on acoustic data and image data associated with the subsurface formation. The acoustic data is analyzed to determine acoustic based stress values, and the image data is analyzed to determine image based stress values. • Publication number: 20160363269
Abstract: A lamp has an optically transmissive enclosure and a base. A tower extends from the base into the enclosure and supports an LED assembly in the enclosure. The LED assembly comprises a plurality of LEDs operable to emit light when energized through an electrical path from the base. The tower and the LED assembly are arranged such that the plurality of LEDs are disposed about the periphery of the tower in a band and face outwardly toward the enclosure to create a source of the light that appears as a glowing filament. The tower forms part of a heat sink that transmits heat from the LED assembly to the ambient environment. The LED assembly has a three-dimensional shape. An electrical interconnect connects a conductor to the heat sink where the conductor is in the electrical path between the LED assembly and the base.

  • Publication number: 20160341842
Abstract: Systems and methods for differential energy analysis of dipole acoustic signals to facilitate identification of geological or borehole characteristics are provided. An acoustic downhole tool may be placed into a borehole in a geological formation. A dipole acoustic signal may be emitted using one or more acoustic transmitters of the downhole tool, and the dipole acoustic signal may be measured using one or more acoustic receivers of the downhole tool. Using a processor, a dipole differential energy of the dipole acoustic signal (as measured by two of the one or more acoustic receivers or as emitted by two of the one or more acoustic transmitters, or both) may be computed. The processor may provide an indication of the dipole differential energy to facilitate identification of characteristics of the geological formation or the borehole, or both.

  • Patent number: 9498315
Abstract: Technologies are generally provided for a trans-urethral sling delivery device for deploying a sub-urethral sling to support a urethra to treat urinary incontinence. The delivery device may include a conical-shaped cap attached to a distal end of the sling, the cap configured to puncture the urethra to provide access to an area surrounding the urethra. The sling may be wrapped in a reduced profile around a delivery tool having flexible spreading members extending away from each other at an end of the delivery tool. The spreading members may be inserted within the cap, and the device may be inserted through the urethra to deploy the sling. The delivery tool may be gradually removed from urethra, removing the spreading members from the cap, such that the spreading members may expand to spread the sling to a flattened configuration as the spreading members are moved along a length of the sling.

  • Publication number: 20160335448
Abstract: A content management system allows a user to create a collection folder to which a submitting user can add content items without being able to access content items added to the folder by other submitting users. A collection folder is created in a namespace of a collecting user and folder is made available to multiple submitting users to allow the submitting users to add items to the folder. When a submitting user first request to store a content item in the collection folder, the content management system creates a sub-folder associated with the submitting user in the collection folder and stores the content item in the sub-folder. The submitting user is given rights to the sub-folder, but is not given rights to sub-folders created for other submitting users.

  • Publication number: 20160290113
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and program product estimate anisotropic properties of an anisotropic formation based at least in part on determinations of a deviation of a wellbore associated with the anisotropic formation and an availability of non-sonic measurement data associated with the anisotropic formation. The determinations are used in the selection of at least one computer-implemented model that in turn may be applied to determine one or more unknown elastic constants for an elastic stiffness matrix.

  • Publication number: 20160255092
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology involve the sharing of a content item though a synchronized content management system (CMS) without requiring a user to register or provide login credentials. For example, the CMS can receive a request from a first user of a computing device to share a content item with a second user. Instead of requiring the user to register or provide their login credentials, the CMS can generate an unregistered user account using a unique identifier associated with the computing device. Accordingly, in order to share the content item, the CMS can generate a link to retrieve the content item and send the link to the second user. Thus, creation of an unregistered user account can require no login credentials, thereby providing a simple, user friendly interface for initiating interactions with the CMS.
